Hair and nail Salon??

I did get my hair done at the salon but not my nails. I wasn't going to but decided the day before that I would. I was worried doing it but my plan was to keep it simple. At the salon they didn't have the products or equipment that I was use to so that made me worry more. I just told her that I wanted really loose curls, half back with my veil and hair flower. She started putting velcro rollers in tight to my head all over, wrapped a net over them, and put me in the hair dryer for about 45 min. I was so worried but it turned out great. She definitely knew what she was doing and I was more than pleased. I even did test curls at home and couldn't get the curl I wanted but she managed :)

I have never been, but I heard that the nail salons don't have a great selection of nail polish. I'd bring my own from home and leave it there, the nail lady will appreciate the gift.

I guess it depends on the resort as to if they have spa services. What resort are you going to?

I'm getting married at Barcelo marina Palace. I'm not sure exactly what I want to do to my hair and not knowing the hairdresser makes me nervous.

Also, we will be in cuba for a week before the wedding so i don't think my nails will hold up if i get them done here either. I'm sure they will be able to do a simple french manicure, right?? :S

Ok... so if you scope out my planning thread you can read all about how crazy worried I was about my hair... I asked a girlfriend of mine (not a wedding party member) to be my "HAIR MANAGER" we did a trial here at home, and she photographed all the stages. I printed the photos all out and brought them with me to Cuba....

60 pictures in total were printed and placed in a photo album

I then went to the local professional beauty supply store and purchased a box of pro bobby pins, joico brand mousse, gel, and ultimate high humidity hairspray. I was ready.

On the morning of the wedding we ventured to the salon - I was still nervous.

My Hair Manager toted along all of the products we would need. The Barcelo Marina Palace only has one hairstylist -- Maria -- and she was absolutely amazing. An absolutely beautiful woman, so kind and gentle.

She really loved a white hair flower I was wearing (from one of those accessory stores) and asked if at the end of my vacation if I would sell it to her for her daughter. I immeadiately gave her the flower, and at the end of our stay -- dropped off other hair accessories, and left all the professional products with her. She was very appreciative.

As you can see in my review and pics, my hair was awesome... and it held all day!

I had my nails done at home before leaving (mani and pedi)....

Happy planning.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
