"So You Think You Can Dance" Summer 2009

I LOVED last night's show! So many of the numbers were really good. I was honestly surprised with it being the first show.

 

I think that Tony and Paris will probably be in the bottom. You never know, people like hip hop so they might squeak through.

 

Askua and Vitolio? didn't do much for me, but again I think it was the choreography and lack of personality they put into it.

 

I do worry about Ashley and Kopono with the jazz routine. I really liked it, but I think a lot of people might not get it. Wade Robson does some weird stuff! Remember the Fox in the Hole number he did for Lacy and Sabra? But then again he did the hummingbird routine with Hoc and that was one of my favorites of all time.

 

I think if it comes down to a dance off, Tony will go home from the guys. I don't know with the girls though. Paris did a great job. Askua was the worst, but I think overall she is a better dancer.

 

I do have to say that I like that they paired the dancers this year. If I remember correctly, in years past they picked partners randomly like they do styles. Evan and Unitard need to be partnered because they are both so tiny. (PS I think Kat is like 9 feet tall and always wears 6" heels)

Erin - I loved the Fox dance that Wade choreographed for Lacey and Sabra! though I have to agree that he is pretty out there sometimes haha. Gotta love Cat for rocking the stilletos even though she's super tall anyway! I agree, the partnering does seem better this year but I always love it when they eventually switch up the partners around the top 10.

Everyone will be paired with the same person until they reach the top 10. That's when they start switching partners each week, which makes the show totally interesting! I can't wait to see what happens tonight, but won't get to watch it until tomorrow probably!

I think that was THE best 1st show ever. I think all the routines were good, I don't think anyone was bad. But Melissa and Ade blew everyone out of the water, their routine was INCREDIBLE! I barely remember anyone else now.

They were the obvious choice, Tony moreso than Paris. I'm sad to see Paris go, she's very talented. Poor Tony, I hope he continues to dance and maybe get some more formal training under his belt. This is a tough season to call since everyone is amazing!

ugh...I was not happy to see paris go...I really don't like that Askua girl at all! I was so not impressed with her solo...and overall I thought she did the worst this week out of the girls!

I agree Andi, I think Tony took Paris down with him, she's much better than that. Asuka is also starting to annoy me. Her solo was actually really good but I get the feeling she thinks she's the best thing since sliced bread... her ego is going to be a problem later on I think.

I forget, is it that a couple gets eliminated each week, or just the lowest male and female? Cuz Tony & Paris were partners, right? So b/c he was not that great, did that mean she was automatically out?

No Carly, Once the botttom 3 couples are decided, each dancer does a solo...dances for their life...and are judged individually. This week it just so happened that it was a couple that got knocked off.

 

I wasn't surprised about Tony...he made it into the top 20 by the skin of his teeth, but I bet by next year he'll be much better.

 

Asuka is starting to annoy me too Vallarta 2009. I didn't think her solo was that great....I thought Paris was better.

 

And I thought Jonathan was great, I don't know why they were criticizing him so much!

 

I can't wait for next week - the dancing was so spectacular this week, it's just going to get better!
