Everytime I walk away from it, I come back and it's off and it keeps getting really really hot! Now I'm frantically trying to save all of my stuff - pictures...files...I just transferred all the stuff from my work laptop to this one in March when I got laid off. I think I'm going to have to buy a new one! This blows!

It may be a simple fan replacement, it may even help to buy a laptop cooling pad if your fan is actually working (although it sounds like it's not working properly). I would take it to the shop and see if they can check it out for you, shouldn't be too expensive, maybe $100 including labour? And while they've got it open, get them to clean it with some compressed air. Works wonders cheesy.gif

Good luck!

If you can avoid it, do not go to Geek Squad! They are terribly overpriced. Any college student could probably fix what's wrong for $20 while they charge $60 just to look at it. Since you are in NJ there is probably a ton of local computer repair shops that will look at it for free and let you know what's up. It is probably just the fan, or if you use it on a soft surface (bed, pillow, even your lap) that could be the problem to. Laptops usually only have one little port for the fan so if that is blocked, it's lights out. Get it fixed ASAP though because overheating can quickly cause damage to other things (motherboard, processor, etc.).

If you buy a new latop...BUY A MACBOOK!!!! I just bought one 2 weeks ago and I am IN LOVE humble.gif I will NEVER go back to a PC again ~ I can't believe I waited this long. No overheating fan problems, the thing makes no noise at all, its fast, and no virus threats!!! LOVE IT wink.gif

I use to do this. put it on my lap in bed. So bad! I bought a pad thing for it so it can cool itself. You have to let air circulate through the vents or it overheats and like a pp said it can fry more stuff. You can buy little stands or pad things at target or best buy or anywhere. Good luck.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
