I am so sorry about all of the drama! Not sure about invite etiquette, but as for destinations... we are taking our engagement pictures in Sedona next week and going to Vegas for our legal ceremony. I have been to beautiful weddings at both places and had a blast at both. Good luck with whatever you pick!!!

I have been to Key West & it is a really fun place to visit & you would still get that tropical feel. I have also been to Vegas several times & agree that it doesn't have to be a hokey (sp?) wedding; there are some really beautiful venues there, some that are on & off the strip. I'm soooo sorry that you had to cancel your wedding, but if it's any consolation, I had to cancel ours & reschedule 3 weeks out (long story, but wedding was in Mexico, now it's in Maui), so I know it sucks. Good luck with your new planning & I think e-mails & web updates would be appropriate in this case.

Oh NO!! I'm sorry you were forced to cancel but did I read your siggy right- your wedding is in Nov? Why was MIL so worried? That's odd!

Without brining all that drama up, I think an email would be fine- maybe send a nice brochure in PDF format. There are a few templates here that you could use. I sent out a PDF about Puerto Vallarta about 2 weeks before the wedding with some key information, what to pack, what to expect, etc. The guests appreciated it. You could also print it and mail to people without email access (and I can't believe they still exist, but they do!!)

Also, maybe check out Alyssa's thread about chaning her location. She had to do a 180 since her resort closed. I believe she sent a brochure. I'll try to find the thread and link it here for you.

Here's her planning thread- you can see the pdf newsletter I'm talking about like 4th post in. I hope that helps some!

Oh bless your heart LaBre! I am so sorry about the drama. Unfortunately, some people can't see past their own selves...but great positive attitude about the monster in lawwink.gif

Key West is such a beautiful place and the weather is pretty good year-round, so it's almost always gorgeous. Have you thought about Lake Tahoe? I was in a wedding there last summer and it was GORGEOUS, easy to travel to, and fairly affordable. Although weddings in Vegas can be kind of cliche, I attended a wedding at Ceasar's Palace a few months ago that was also very beautiful and classy. Plus, I think it was fairly cheap for the bride and groom. It certainly was TONS of fun for the guests.

As far as notifying the guests of the change in venue, I'm with the other girls and think changing the website or phone calls would be fine. If you want to do something more, what about a fun little postcard with the new venue on it and something funny about the swine flu?

Good luck girl and keep up the great attitude!!! I'm sorry that you had to change your dream DW, but sounds like you and your FI have certainly weathered the storm. What a great reminder that your relationship is pretty awesome!! smile03.gif

Key West is fantastic and I'm sure your guests will love it (and I can't imagine what your FMIL could complain about there)!

Have you thought about Costa Rica? I think it sounds like a wonderful place to get married too.

Best wishes to you and I'm so sorry that you are having to go through so much.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
