Well....it appears I no longer belong on this thread. We canceled our November wedding in Puerto Vallarta after much screaming and swearing by my future mother-in-law (who appeared to be a very classy and together lady before this came up) on the phone. She already has some health concerns and the swine flu risk was too much for her. In fact, it spread like cancer and her whole family and some friends were up in arms as well. It doesn't even matter that the travel advisories have been dropped! I find that absolutely ridiculous, but we had to cancel regardless to try to save what is left of the already strained relationship between my wonderfully warm-hearted FI and his crazy family.

So now we're back to ground zero.

Some places we're considering are the Grand Canyon, Sedona, Vegas, Key West. Still not sure at all! I have my mom's blessing to run off and elope too! The top of a mountain in Nepal sounds enticing.

Invites were out. We were all booked as well as my family and a few friends.

Anyone know what the correct etiquette is if we do choose another location and invite the same guests? New invitations? Or are email and website updates (which we've been doing) sufficient?

Staying strong and exploring options......La

I am so sorry to hear you were forced to cancel your wedding and relocate because of paranoid people, that's awful....sometimes I wonder if no one respects the bride and grooms wishes anymore! sad.gif Anyway, I think the Grand Canyon or Vegas would be fantasic places to hold a wedding. Vegas is not as kitschy as some people might think, they have a lot of beautiful venues! Wishing you the best of luck as you re-plan your entire wedding!

Oh my, I'm so sorry... That really really sucks...

I think phone calls for those who don't use email/internet, combined with your website updates and emails are sufficient to announce the relocation of the wedding.

I'm sure no matter where you chose, you will have a beautiful and memorable wedding!

Hey - so sorry you are going through with this!!!

We had to cancel our May Mexico wedding and now we are planning one in Santa Barbara for June. We just sent a new "email invitation" to all the original guests (both those originally coming to Mexico and the ones that couldnt make it). I dont think new invitations are necessary and Im sure everyone would understand.

Good luck on planning round two...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
