I really want to do my own DIY invitations. I have this grand idea in my head but no clue how to get started. I want the pocket invitations. The invite would have a pic of us on the front. The middle would be the invite and in the pocket to the right would be all the info that is enclosed. I went to envelopperinc.com to look at just buying the envelopes but it can get pricing. Anyone know how to get good cheap envelopes like this? Also point me in the right direction so I can be sane......I would like to rap a ribbon around it and maybe add a starfish to it too.
    Suggetions??

I believe you are talking about Pocket Folds not envelopes? Cards and Pockets is a good place for these, if so.

Correct Pocket folds. I keep weighing the options of what would be cheaper and what would keep me sane. I really want to do my own but I know once they are done I will think I could have done better. UGH. This sites are great thanks ladies!!!!!!!

I guess it depends on your resources. It can be fun, but stressfull and a fair amount of work. Plus, you have to be not so critical of your own work! In the end, you'll look at your stack of invites and be proud of what you accomplished, if you decide to do it on your own. I would have never done this project on my own if I had over 100 guests! I'd have just thrown money at it. lol

There are lots of DIY tips on the web for creating your own invitations, plus lots of ideas on this forum. :)

Our guest list keeps climbing. We are know looking at over a 100 invites. I love to put my own work into it however since the number is climbing I keep going back and forth. My FMIL is all about helping along with my FSIL and my mom along with my friends. So many ideas and things you can do its crazy.

Your idea sounds like it would be beautiful. I love the link that da.shmoopies included, and I wish I saw it before I made my invitations.
I purchased my cardstock paper from a local craft store. But I suggest checking out Micheals.com to see what they can offer. If you sign up with them they send a coupon to your email weekly, and you can get decent discounts on your supplies that way. Another tip that you may want to consider(especially if budget is an important factor)- make a complete sample invitation, and take it to the post office, to see how much postage will cost, before you make them all. Mine ended up being over in weight, so it cost me a bit more for postage.

The pocket folder and back ground would be metallic the cardstock we use to print would be just plain solid. I just ordered a sample of the colors I want from cardsandpockets.com. We will see what it is like in person and do a trial run with what I want to put on them. Im soooo excited. You ladies are great and have helped me so much. This is just great :)
