Back from Jamaica- Review

Recommended Posts

Our wedding at Sandals Dunns River Villagio went wonderful. The banner I custom purchased from a knottie Style Down the Aisle - A Bravenet.com Hosted Site was perfect. The hair and makeup and nail from the spa was exceptional. I brought pictures and they did a good job. I did bring my own lipstick and eyeshadow and they did the rest. My veil was wonderful and floated pretty much. I purchased it from veils by Roxxanne on ebay. I also purchased my champagne sash from ebay. The shoes were from Macy's and my dress was a clearance Vivian from J.Crew. I bought my earrings from a knottie and my bracelet was from ebay. I did program fans with the fans from oriental trading (big hit because it was so hot). I did do welcome bags , the shoulder ones from alkani. I put mini sunblock, the sea shell salt and pepper favors, a Jamaica tourist book, a mini calendar , a wedding day timeline, a welcome note and some mints in the bag.

The only warning I have is avoid at all cost the Sandals photographers. My photograher was very young and funny, but he took crooked pictures. Thank God my best friend took a bunch of pictures and did a wonderful job. The photraphers and Sandals really don't know what they are doing to much and the quality of the pictures when you recieve them look like ones I would get from Walmart. They really don't retouch them . I would not mind if they didn't charge so much for the pictures. In order to get around using their photograhpers because they don't allow vendors, I would try to say the photog is a family member or friend and they would have to use a nonconspicous camera. I really , really, really, regret not using a professional.

Congratulations Kori! It looks like everything turned out beautifully! I love your bouquet and the banner is so nice. That's too bad about your pictures, although I just looked through your shutterfly slideshow and your friend got some great pics- you will still have some great memories with those. You had a steel drum band- how fun! You looked radiant and happy, and your husband looked great too!

Congratulations again bunny_4.gif

YAY your back! OMG you look so pretty. I love the look of your bridal party. So elegant. And I love the hubbies white suit as well. Everything looked amazing. Don't worry about the photos, the ones you posted look very nice (I realize those may be the ones your friend took) Hopefully your friend got some good pics and you will be able to make a nice album out of that. I am so happy for you and congratulations! smile159.gif

Welcome back!!! Everything looks beautiful.. the pictures on Shutterfly are from your friend? She did a great job! wink.gif Good thing you had her there. BTW - I love your dress, I really love the bow on the front! I really like picture 161, it really shows the emotion.

What time was your wedding? It looks like you had some brilliant sunshine the entire time! :)

Kori thanks for sharing! You were beautiful and I love the champagne color for your BMs. Sorry to hear about the photographer situation... Sandals is a trip for trying to monopolize everything about the wedding day. I am so glad your friend took good pics.

Your banner also looked awesome! Do you plan to frame or display somewhere in your home?

Thank you everyone for your kind words. :) The wedding took place at 11AM, but thank goodness the ceremony was short and the reception took place in a shady breezy area. We were orginally going to do the ceremony on the waterfront, but my flowergirl got permision to come on property a week before the wedding and we had to change the time and location of the ceremony since it was an adult only resort. But everything worked out fun. The sun can be very intense so early in the morning ,so I had to triple up on sunblock.

Thank so much for your kind words. :) I do truly love the banner. I am going to display it at my "at home reception"/crabcrack in July and then I am going to have it framed and hung up in our living room.

I apologize because I told a bride from RIU and Beaches Boscobel that I would go to the resort and take pictures. I did not get a chance to get to either resort during my stay. But RIU was right next door to us and it is beautiful and HUGE. We share the same beach(minus the gate seperating the properties) and the beach is wonderful. You will have a wonderful time.

I have to ask the parents of my flower girl about Beaches. They stayed there and had wonderful time. My flower girl is obssesed with Elmo (age3) so she was so excited about meeting him. :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
