Yeppers!!! I brought mine from home - I had one suitcase dedicated to the transportation of all my flowers.

They were made by Bridal Blooms by Laura - she is out of Oakville. The entire transaction was done through email and telephone. She was FANTASTIC!

*sigh* I may just have to go the fake route, none of the Melia Bouquets are that intriguing to me. Where are the colours!? I guess this is the biggest difference between Mexico and Cuba. Damn it.

Thanks for the link Amy, I'm totally going to check out my options. :)

Ash,

I feel like you may have a better selection in the summer, the thing is that in JANUARY (when I got married) it is their winter there too, so most plants are dormant -- thus i went the fake route.

Your WC at the Melia should be better able to give you an idea!

Good Luck!

I brought my own flowers to Cuba as well. We all just brought them in our carryon and they travelled well. These flowers were ordered from Angels Accents and I absolutely loved them.

They might give you some ideas or are also for sale if you're interested.

I'm planning to get a real touch bouquet made, I'm a little torn, I wanted real flowers but I am picky about my colors/types of flowers I want. Ashley - If you are easy going about your flowers I'm sure you could get something pretty, most brides from MLD I have seen have pink/white (or all white) star gazer lilies and calla lilies, I know they have other flowers around though as I have seen them in arrangements - like ginger/birds of paradise/roses etc...so I guess it depends how anal you are, I don't think there is anything else near the resort in terms of florists, it is in the middle of nowhere apparently. Good luck deciding! Let us know what you decide :)

Jackobelle, Real Touch refers to a high quality faux flower that is often used for Bouts and Bouquets-- they are popular for destination wedding because they take the guess-work out of planning from afar, and they are also great for people with allergies.

There isn't one specific company that created "real touch" flowers, but here is a link to some great photos that give you an idea.

They look gorgeous. But sjmacphe is right, I'm pretty laid back and will likely just choose something down there. I will definitely keep all you MLD Brides in the loop. :)

Thanks for the info & link! I am sure I will find something at the resort I like for a bouquet, I am only a little worried that it will not be 'flower season' but I am sure it will be fine, I love almost all types of flowers. The other plus to 'real touch' flowers would be you would also have them for the TTD if you are doing one.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
