Night mare site visit!!!!!!

That's crazy - glad that you narrowed it down, though.

We stayed at the RIU Palace for 2 weeks and it was amazing. What really made it blissful was the seafood - so fresh and tasty!

No, I've only been able to find a few online, but the whole property was recently renovated so I am definitely on the hunt for information as well.

We are about 7 weeks out now and I am getting more and more nervous as it nears.

I am sorry you had such a tough time. Sounds horrible. The Riu Palace looks fantastic and is actually one of my top choices...just depends on rates for my guests. I have too many top choices though. lol. Can I ask what made you decide on Riu.

Oh and take a deep breath. Seems to me based on all my readings that everything works out beautifully for nearly everyone. Isn't that why we are all planning the DW?! :) It will be wonderful, I'm sure!

Once again, I am so glad that this site exists. We are heading to DR in August and were thinking of just going to check out a few places...my FI speaks spanish and a friend is Dominican, but to pay for taxis and then sit outside on our vacation, no thanks. :)

Thanks for this thread!

Riu you cant go wrong the price is good for every body and your pocket. The fact that the WC did not take the time out to see u was rude. They are a bit over worked I hear with all the wedding they have to do and short staffing. The only thing u have to worry about is the hard beds I hear which u can ask for bed covers.

Riu Maca Bride to B. wohoo

I guess the security is a good thing but that is too bad that you had to go through all of that.

Would you mind giving some feedback on Ocean Blue? I am getting married there but staying on the Ocean Sands side. I wish I could have done a site visit before.

Thanks!!

I'm sorry you had such a terrible experience. And I know exactly how you feel.

I hope the Riu is magical for you that that you have a fabulous wedding!

I totally agree with this. I'm glad that you figured out your resort, and am sorry you got the run around from security at most places. I am thankful, though, that security is so tight at these places. Makes me feel much safer going there. I'm sure it's a huge weight off your shoulders to have narrowed down the resort so congrats on that!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
