For those of you from CA. and got legally married in Cabo

Recommended Posts

Hi girls,

So you all know that Erik and I have finally decided to get married in Cabo when we go there this July 26-29.

We told my parents and they and my sisters and there significant others will be showing up also....We are not going to tell Erik's parents till it's closer to the date...and I'm thinking we will get them their tickets....

Anyways....here is my question....

For those of you who got married in Cabo when you came back to CA. did you have to do anything at the courts to prove that you got married in Cabo?

Basically ....what is the process afterwards when we get back from Mexico.

Maye is going to give me all the info on Monday to have the wedding in Mexico.

Thanks girls....I just want to make sure I'm on top of things in such short notice....

OH ONE MORE QUESTION:

Blood work: What do they basically do? I know they draw blood but do they tell you if they give the ok or not? What do they do?

They're also checking for pregnancy and if that comes back positive, it's a no. I read that somewhere online a long time ago... And I think they're looking for STD's, which could be a no also. But I'm not sure if I'm remembering correctly because it's been so long since I saw this...

You're cracking me up....LOL

So we've decided to do legal ceremony here in O.C. We are going to do it the day before our flight or even the weekend before. So much easier.....

Then have ceremony in Cabo.

I'm so excited!!!

Drea, I think that's a great decision! We are actually going our legal ceremony the day we leave on our honeymoon (we're not honeymooning in Cabo) so we'll have the Cabo ceremony and then fly home for a night, and then wake up, get married and fly to Belize.

It'll be just the two of us and the judge, but what a fun way to incorporate it all. Plus, it takes the hassle out of the blood work, paperwork, etc.

Can't wait to hear how it all goes!

Hey Drea,

just FYI I don't believe that the SA courthouse is open on the weekend.

From what I have read and have been told, they look for Aids and Syphallis)however you spell that). I have not been told they look for any other STD's or pregnancy etc.. But it does not matter since you are getting married in CA beforehand, but may be useful for anyone else reading this.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
