invites to ahr

whats the etiquette on this? Do I invite the same people that are going to the wedding? What if most people I invite to the wedding go- then the AHR celebration would be small. If I invite the same people to the AHR that are invited to the DW will they think I am just double dipping on the gift?

My FI and I had a meeting with our parents and completely switched everything up for our AHR - I think I'm going to post a thread about it, but we are going to end up being a little more selective on our invites.
What is happening is we were up to about inviting 150 ppl, then my mother in law forgot a list to give me, and etc etc, and now we are up to 200 ppl.
I think we are telling everyone that our AHR is going to just be for family - close family, and we are just going to do appetizers/cocktails and show our photos and video etc. It wasn't even about money that made us take the guest list down, it was because we were getting so stressed thinking about 200 pppl party and we didn't want to focus on our AHR, we want to focus on our actual wedding in PV.

I hope this helps....

We have 30 ppl coming to our DW and will be inviting around 100-150 to the AHR. All those coming to the DW are invited to the AHR. We originally invitied about 50 to the DW (we used evite.com) to see who is coming...30 are able to come.

Based on the evites and all those who booked through our TA, We sent Boarding pass invites to the 30 that are coming to Mexico. And for the AHR, we are doing annoucements and a invite to the AHR combined.

Our AHR is for all those CLOSE friends and fam that can't make it to Mexico and all those who did make it too. I plan to have an A and B list...those we really want there will be A's, then we will see who all is coming and maybe invite more on the B list. :)

We look at the AHR as a party to celebrate...we even call the wording a celebration and leave off the word reception. We are doing super casual Mexican buffet, cake and an awesome fun band. Basically just a party. Just for fun! :)

Hope this helps!

We are having a ceremony with just the two of us. We wanted it like that because it was so romantic and besides we didn't want to deal with all the stress. We then decided to have a very simple get-together for family and friends back home. Well, to make a long story short, we went from a simple BBQ at my sister's backyard to a small party at a hall to now a more si-formal wedding at a very nice local restaurant. We are inviting 100 people (I do not want to go over that number). Even though it's not what we were planning at all, or the budget we said we'd stick to, I am happy now with my decisions. we are having our closest friends and family. It is a very nice restaurant and the food there is delicious. So now, I just have to do all the planning and prep...

We are having 30 in Mexico and about 200 at the AHR. We sent save the dates to everyone with a link to our website--they also had both dates on them. Everyone was welcome to go to Mexico with us, but we knew only close friends and family would be able to go. Our AHR is about a month after the wedding. I'm just not sure what I'm doing for invitations yet though.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
