Andi's Casa Velas Review - with a TON of pics!

Recommended Posts

Sorry Mods...I couldn't decide if this should be in the PV section or Review section? So please move it if it is in the wrong place!

We stayed at the Casa Velas for 5 nights…was suppose to be 4 but I will tell you about that in a bit!

So DH and I stayed in a Grand Class Suite with a plunge pool…it was AMAZING! We got in on their special promotion (I think they still have it going on their website) stay 3 nights get 1 free. After being at the Vallarta Palace with our family for 4 days we were more than ready for some quiet relaxing time! Casa Velas was PERFECT!

It is such a pretty pretty place…the staff is MORE than accommodating and the hotel itself is just so QUIET. We were there during the Swine freak out time…but honestly I think that whole thing worked in our favor because we practically had the entire hotel to ourselves! There are 80 rooms at the hotel and I think that we saw the same 10 couples everyday…our best guess was that MAYBE 15 rooms were occupied for the entire 5 days that we were there!

Ok so the room…perfect…so pretty…the plunge pool was cool. Stocked fridge with waters, beer and a small snack cabinet…all part of the all inclusive package! Also on the all inclusive…it is the way to go! It was kind of weird though because every time we were eating we had to sign a bill to our room but as they told us when we checked in, it was all zeroed out by the time we checked out!

So there really is only one restaurant at Casa Velas, Emiliano. It served breakfast, lunch and dinner…the breakfast was AMAZING! DH and I really enjoyed the Huevos Rancheros and Machaca. We never at lunch there and dinner just once…but that was good too!

So maybe I live under a rock...but this is the purse stand that the staff would bring over every time for my purse so i didn't have to put it in a chair or on the ground! I just thought this was COOL!

As part of the Casa Velas package, all guests can go to the sister property Velas Vallarta, the bigger more traditional resort and enjoy any of the amenities there such as restaurants, pool, etc. DH and I did walk there one day (about a 5 minute walk down the beach from the beach club). We walked around and checked it out…got a drink (which by the way the drinks were way better at Casa)and left. We had our Casa Velas wrist band and had no problems walking around the property…the staff there was very nice too.

Ok so our biggest decision everyday was Pool or Beach Club? The Casa Velas Beach Club is AWESOME! When I booked Casa, the one thing that really turned me off was that the property is not on the beach. It is on a golf course…which is VERY nice. Well so Casa Velas has a Beach Club which literally is a Beach House! It is right next to the Marriott. So you can take a shuttle over to the beach club at any time you want…it is about a 3 minute drive at most! There is a restaurant there that serves lunch and dinner. We had sushi almost every day for lunch…with French fries! DH LOVED IT! There are chairs by the pool or little cabanas down on the beach…tell you what…make sure you take a nap in the cabana on the beach, I did that almost daily too! They have a beach side dinner…you have to make a reservation, which is not a big deal though. So we made a reservation for one night and then um well we had too many drinks by the pool that afternoon and totally passed out and missed our reservation…oops! So sadly we never enjoyed a dinner on the beach, oh well I guess that gives us a reason to go back!

So yeah…we were booked for 4 nights…we were having so much fun we didnâ€t want to go home so we stayed one extra night! We lucked out on changing our flight too, thanks to the swine…the airline was waiving all change fees for travelers to mexico or with reservations for Mexico…the reservations guy totally was laughing at us when we called to stay an extra day! He said we were the only ones who had that request! rofl.gif

So if you are thinking about Casa Velas…book it! BUT I will say…we were glad we didnâ€t have our entire group stay there for the wedding portion…it would have been just too quiet of a place for all of our guests. For the honeymoon though…PERFECT! Also, I pretty much had to beg DH to let me book Casa Velas for our “honeymoonâ€. He wanted to stay at the Vallarta Palace…I knew we would want a change. 30 minutes into our stay at Casa…DH told me he was so glad we changed hotels!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
