How to involve the groom's father

Recommended Posts

So I am looking for advice/suggestions on how to honor/involve my Fi's dad in the ceremony. His parents divorced about a year ago and though it wasn't a super messy divorce they really don't talk much as both their sons are grown. We are having a short and sweet Vegas chapel ceremony w/ a unity candle. Our moms are going to light the candles, my dad will walk me down the aisle...

So how do we honor his dad so he doesn't feel like the odd one out who did not participate in the ceremony? I am pretty sure the creative collective here on BDW will have some advice!

Just a suggestion, but maybe you could do something like a sand ceremony and have all of the parents pour some of the sand for the "foundation" of the vase/shadowbox frame and the you and you FI pour your individual sand to make everyone feel a part of it?

We are doing something like this: i'm having my 8 year old pour the foundation sand from the beach in Jamaica and then we will each pour our sand to make not feel left out.

Before the cutting of our cake we are going to light the unity candle( FI wants one too).

It's Las Vagas, but i'm sure it would look quite fine to do it at any location.

Hope this helps.Congrats and good luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
