Beach or Gazebo Ceremony

Recommended Posts

For all of the Paradisus Punta Cana brides out there, please HELP!! I'm not sure if I want the ceremony on the beach with a canopy or at the Gazebo....any advice/opinions would help. I'm having approximately 70 people, so I'm not even sure if the Gazebo can accomodate everyone.

Hi! I'm not a Punta Cana Bride, but a future Dreams Los Cabos bride to be. To beach or not to beach? That is the question. In my opinion, it's all personal preference. When we finally agreed to have a destination wedding, on a resort with a beach, the first thing that came to mind was how nice it'll be to have sand inbetween our toes while we exchange vows. It's a formal event... In an informal situation and environment. The gazebo is beautiful at the Dreams Resort. I did have second thoughts when i saw it. But the whole time we were on our resort visit last week, the beach just kept calling me. That was the deciding factor. A lot of the brides have had their ceremony at the gazebo, and their pictures are so beautiful! I'm sure they can agree it's all personal preference. I Hope this helps!

The gazebo is where we were married -so I am likely partial to it ... but it is much more isolated than a beach wedding, which is what we were looking for. The beach weddings are not at all private, and sunbathers and gawkers are on either side. There is only a small area cleared for the wedding party and its guests.

The gazebo, on the other hand, is on top of a sandy hill overlooking the ocean and is much more secluded, while having all the same beautiful views. They set up chairs around the gazebo. We had 40 guests and there was plenty of room for extra chairs, so your 70 guests should be no problem.

Here are a couple pics from our album that shows the gazebo during our wedding...

Now, some people are set on having sand between theor toes during the cermony ... that's not the case with the gazebo at PPC, but it's right on the edge of the sandy beaches.

And we had a beach reception, so it worked out great for us.

I hope that helps!

I think the other girls nailed it by saying that its all going to be about personal preference. I think regardless, a DW is beautiful! I chose the beach because that's how I picture my wedding and its what I find appealing. Is there one that your leaning towards? Like maybe the gazebo but you're worried about the space? Go with what you are feeling and you can't go wrong!

I'm definitely leaning toward a beach ceremony, its what I always pictured, but I really don't want people swimming in the water right in front of us and getting in the pictures. When we vacationed last year in Jamaica there were tons of weddings at the hotel and that's all I saw...people getting in the way. But I'm hoping bc I'm getting married at 6 in the evening (or at least I hope..haven't confirmed anything yet) that there won't be as many people around bc they are getting ready for dinner.

  • 2 weeks later...

I would so give anything to have the gazebo option! I never wanted to get married in sand! I want to wear great high heels and overlook the beach, but not stand on it. But I chose a resort that would be more cost effective so I could get more friends and family to go. Luckily its working, we have almost double the guests than we had originally expected. But I lost out on my gazebo dream. Bummer. Still trying to work with my wedding coordinator to find a good option.

Just to let you know I was a gazebo bride (wouldn't change it to the beach for anything) and i still had strangers standing and staring during my ceremony. LOL It's a resort and people really like to watch weddings even if they don't know you. SO if it's the beach you want - go for it! Most photogs can photoshop out people swimming in the ocean so just let your photographer know ahead of time. It's an easy fix, promise wink.gif

I am so in love with the PPC gazebo, even though I'm not getting married there (they didnt have our date)....it was what made me fall in love with the gazebo location. I agree it is personal preference. For me, i wanted solid ground to walk on (because we have older people and I thought'd they'd have a hard time on a beach). i also figured I could still have a private ceremony, and in PPC's case, the beautiful beach is still right there in the background!!

Good Luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
