Did you get upgraded to First Class???

I am just curious, I have heard a lot of rumors that brides who travel with their gown frequently get bumped up to first class. Has anyone had this experience? What airline did you fly? We are flying Delta to Cancun for our wedding in Tulum and obviously I will be bringing my dress with me on board. Any guesses what the chances are of getting bumped (especially with the swine flu paranoia)?

They won't just cause you have a dress. Some are nice and if room is avail the agent may bump you for your wedding. Chances are probably pretty high w/ swine flu. Our original flights were just cancelled by delta today for our wedding due to know one traveling because of swine flu. We're leaving August 4th!!!! So now we're rebooked for a red eye to atlanta and getting there a day later. I'm about to call and request an upgrade because we have had our flights changed 3 times because our previously flights were cancelled and now I have to fly over night w/ a 1 yr old and a pregnant woman and I think we deserve to sleep in an upgraded seat and not coach!

My friend got married in Mexico in December and she got bumped up to first class. She flew mexicana airlines. She told them she had her dress and they put her in first class, free of charge. I am not sure how often they do this. It sure would be nice if I can get that on air jamaica, but I'm not holding my breath.

Frontier doesn't have first class! Haha! So nope, no upgrade for me! :) But they are also the only carrier I know of that has not canceled flights b/c of the Swine Flu...so there are other perks. :) So I will be keeping my fingers crossed they don't cancel any! flypig.gif

DH and I were bumped up to first class on the way down to Mexico only...not on the way back to Canada from Mexico (total bummer but oh well!). The reason we were upgraded to first class was because there was extra room in first class and they tried to sell the tickets first and had no luck, so they upgraded us for free. It was an awesome experience but I'm not sure it's worth the extra couple of hundred dollars per ticket. I hope this helps!

Sorry I didn't clarify more before (i'm all rowled up over my flights) I used to work for Delta and United. Technically they have to give seats to elite members using their miles and if theres extra room they go to the waitlist. But when you get to the airport feel out the agent. I know if I was having a good day or a really nice couple came up and were sweet and what not I upgraded them right there. So its really touch and go! I think Kathy is right its not worth the money on flights like these. We've only purchased them on 15 hr flights to Oz, or tokyo, thailand and africa. I think they're really only worth it on long flights

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
