A sand ceremony is an alternative to a unity candle. The 2 separate glasses of sand symbolize your separate lives, separate families and separate sets of friends - They represent all that you are as an individual. The 2 glasses are poured into one together to symbolize everything as one. Just as the grains of sand can never be separated and poured again into the individual containers, so will your marriage be. Usually if you get married in a church, the unity candle represents the same thing... you each have a candle and you light one candle with each of your individual candles. I hope that makes sense

I would love to do a Sand Ceremony too!
I think it's such a beautiful idea and such a nice keepsake
Anyone know if you can use some sand from the actual beach your wedding is taking place at?!

Does your vase come with something to cover the top so u can transport it back home? I have found some really cute vases, but no corks or lids to bring them back home!
