It's really the only thing holding me back from using a DJ as the MI coordinators said I will not have any say in the music played. so I didn't see the point in a DJ if I am paying for music I do not want to hear. I hope MI is wrong because the reviews sound good. :)
Hola! Keaddy,

You will be able to send your playlist and non playlist as well, is your wedding day and you can have all the music that you want.

Hi all,

I just found this thread but already have Ivan booked for our December wedding at The Royal Playa del Carmen. He has been very polite and professional. Additionally, he answers my TONS of questions patiently. I am looking forward to him DJing our wedding.

Keaddy, that is so not true. Who is your WC? Angie? LOL! Ivan will take your suggestions and even email you a song list. He also has equipment where he can download a song on the spot if your guests request something he doesn't have. There is a thread on here that you must join. It is called The Royal Playa del Carmen...were kids allowed? If you do a search, you will find it. It thread was started back in 2008. There are a TON of posts. I suggest you start at the beginning and work your way to the end. Warning-it'll take days, LOL! You will find that so many questions you have and questions your WC hasn't answered are posted.

Thanks for the input. I am now on my third wedding coord. Autumn. she has been very helpful but I am not pleased when I get no's from them when other people get no problem's. she said I could not have any input on the play list so I was going to remove my dj request. I will now keep it as long as I get to choose my playlist songs.

also I have gone through the entire thread for PDC but as it is now 2010 some things have changed so it's actually not always the best place to look for current info.

I am now having an issue where as the wedding coordinator is saying since I want a french manicure and pedicure I have to buy this and I cannot give the one that comes with my package to my mother or a fam member. This really upsets me. I am paying for both sets of mani and pedis so why would I not be allowed to give it to whom I choose? You would think with as much money as they make off us (I have a lot of guests coming) they wouldn't see this as a biggie? especially since I am paying for it. it's technically mine to use. has anyone else on this thread had this issue? I am trying to locate a number to call someone directly at the resort in the wedding dpt who can help me! sad.gif

Hola Girls!

Here you have one more review from our services:

DJ DOREMIXX: 10/10

DJ Doremixx (Ivan Gomez) is a vendor on this forum and I am soooooo glad that we used him. He was absolutely fabulous! I would recommend him to anyone having a wedding in the Riviera Maya. He was very reasonably priced (Especially since we had to pay the $500 to the hotel for the outside vendor fee), spoke very good English, and was pretty much the best DJ I have ever had an experience with! He came to the resort the day before the wedding to meet with us and finalize everything and he showed up 3 hours before our reception to set up. He brought fireworks, balloons, masks, and other assecories which my guests all loved! He played every song on our playlist and kept the party going until after the end of our reception. There really isnâ€t anything else I can say besides, “HIRE HIM!

Hi Keaddy,
Did you read the correct thread? I'll see if I can attach it. The thread is very much up to date as it has recent posts (all the way up to today) including wedding reviews from the past week. There are brides who book under the pre December, 2009 changes and those (such as myself) who book after. In fact, that may be the best place to ask your question (in case someone else may have been through it or are visiting and can ask). I really don't see how the spa will know who you are. Also, the girls (on the thread) have said that Zulma (the onsite coordinator) is amazing. She is far more knowledgeable than the Michigan girls. I would book it and still book at Veronica's. Doesn't make sense to double pay.

Hola Girls!

Here you have one more!!!

DJ Ivan (A++++++)

he was late for the meeting, but had a valid excuse. He took down all of our notes and we paid him then. The night of the wedding I can't begin to tell you how fantastic he was. He is worth EVERY penny! The stage is also a must if your people love to dance. He even extended out the wedding an extra 20 minutes at the end because nobody wanted to get off of the dance floor. At one point one of my bridesmaids said she wished he would have played a bad song so she could give her feet a rest. We requested no slow songs and no wedding typical songs. I did this because I knew the people who were attending and knew what they would like and want. I suggest you do the same since you want everyone to have fun. I opened up requests to whoever wanted to and it worked out great. He definitely made the party! His dance floor made you feel like you were in a club also! It was great. At one point the staff even let us get behind the bar and mix our own drinks. We had people coming up to us the next day saying that they saw our wedding reception and it looked like the most fun wedding they have ever seen. They said they wanted to crash it. We had 3 different groups of party crashers come in and unfortunately we had to boot them out or else we would have to pay the $60/person...no thanks. So most of them stayed on the beach by our dance floor and danced by the ocean with us. Pretty funny!

Hola Girls,

Here you have other review:

DJ:

My husband and I hired DJ Doremixx and it was one of the best decisions. He was very responsible. He came to meet with us a couple of days prior to the wedding to ease my nerve; even though, in hindsight, it was probably not necessary as we sent him our reception timeline and requests ahead of time. We requested a couple of songs for the dancing portion and left the remaining time under his control. He came equipped with spot lights and microphones. The dinner portion ran overtime so we only had ~20mins to dance. DJ Doremixx helped everyone jump right into it with great songs, balloons and masks. It was such a great party that I wish we had more time with DJ Doremixx on the dance floor. We moved the party over to Desire the resort disco for the remainder of the evening.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
