Kathy (Cattie) Cruise wedding review

Recommended Posts

Wow I can't believe I'm writing my review!!!

RCCL Group Dept - B

They where good to deal with, not everyone was extremely knowledgeable. I wish they where a little more helpful with making dinner reservations. However, anytime they had a price cut, they where more then helpful to get refunds.

Avalon Limo - A

We went through a local limo place to take all of us to the cruise port in Bayonne. Tom at Avalon was OMG the best!! We had a 20 passenger limo bus. It picked up 7 of us at my in laws, then headed to my parents to pick up the remaining 11. They where great both ways. Anytime we needed to stop they didn't give us a hard time!

Cape Liberty Cruise Port - A

Check in was a breeze. We where on the ship and eatting by noon. Getting off was great also. Last year it took us forever getting through customs. This year we flew through and it was perfect. Although they lost my MOH's bag of shoe's! She's in mourning now.

Explorer of the Seas - A+

I love this ship. Although there wasn't as many selections as in the past on the dinner menu, the food was outstanding. The sailing was ungodly smooth for crossing the gulf stream.

They made an exception for our nephew who is only 8 to dine with us in Portofino's. Normally they can't dine past 7, our reservations where for 9:30. The coolest thing was as we're sitting waiting to be seated, here come all these men out of the restaurant in dress blues. One man stops and is talking to us, asking us if we just where married and wishing us congratulations. I'm reading his name tag, and it's not making sense to me. My MOH goes "OMG you're the captain of the ship!" I think to myself, holy shit! The captain is talking to me!! People are stopping and staring at us. He's shaking our hand, taking pictures with us. Before he leaves, he gives me a kiss on the cheek and a hug wishing us the best of luck. Following him, was the assistant captain giving me a kiss and hug also!! We felt so special!! The captain doesn't great anyone! At least not on a non captains dinner night!!

The dinner was to die for! After dinner they brought my hubby and I a piece of cake with strawberries and sung a song for us. It was so nice!

The Wedding Salon - A

Barbara and Danielle from TWS where fabulous. Danielle called me in the late morning to let me know she was keeping an eye on the weather. She made sure to get us started early since I was there early.

9 Beaches - A+

This is the cutest resort ever!! It's not your typical hotel resort. They are an eco friendly resort. You stay in these little cabana's. They are absolutely adorable!! Phyllis the site planner was AMAZING! We where off doing pictures around the property to beat the rain. As we headed back to do cake, it started raining. I'm running down a hill, and I see them running chairs, my cake and everything up under a huge tent. We wanted to do a beach day the following day. Phyllis made sure we didn't have to pay a day fee. She was there when we showed up the next day. She is also mailing me the copies of the local newspaper our bans where announced in.

Bruce Lessuer Photography - A+

He was phenomenal! He made sure we had the shots we wanted, plus took us around the property to get some amazing shots on the cliffs. I can't wait to see my pictures! He's even making sure he rushes the disc back to us for our AHR for NO extra cost!!!

Over all - A+++

I can't find a thing to complain about. It was more then I could ever imagine. I loved every minute of it. I can't believe I didn't even cry during my vows!! I actually ended up laughing towards the end!! I'm so happy we decided on a destination wedding. I know I couldn't have done it without you girls here on the boards!!! Everyone loved all the idea's that everyone here has helped with!

Congratulations Cattie!!!! I am so so happy that you had your perfect wedding!

9 Beaches holds a sentimental spot in my heart, it used to be the Canadian Forces base, and I spent many many days of my childhood on the beach and the property in general.

All the best to you and your hubby!!!! smile03.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
