Unique reception venues in/near Honolulu

We're having our ceremony at the Hilton Hawaiian Village's Ocean Crystal Chapel at 4pm, and most of our 30 or so guests will be staying there as well. I'm looking for a reception venue nearby, or within an hour or so (I guess we could rent a big trolley or something for transportation, but ideally the location would be as close to the Hawaiian Village as possible).

I never felt I wanted one of those big ballroom receptions, but rather see myself in a really funky bar or lounge, cafe, restaurant, etc that's been set up with tables and dance floor and everything. I'm really open for any ideas, though not willing to spend an arm and a leg. Outside could work, but I'm worried it's rather chilly at night in March?

If anyone has seen or heard of something unique, or has or is planning to do so, please advise!!!

I can't think of anything off the top of my head. But I can tell you that you shouldn't shy away from outside...it won't be any cooler in March than it is in July. My parents live there so I frequent the island often. If a good spot comes to mind I'll let you know!

all my suggestions were taken from other Oahu brides from this forum but i'll say them anyway :P

* outdoor luau - paradise cove or the polynesian cultural centre

* tiki's grill & bar - you should look at their private events page. i like the coconut club one

Tiki's Grill & Bar

* i REALLY loved Aaron's Atop the Ala Moana but apparently it has closed down this past march! sad.gif im hoping someone will open it up again so we can have our reception there... here's their site: Aaron's Atop the Ala Moana Dining Menu

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
