$4000 per couple plus spending money sounds like a lot to me.

Our honeymoon, for 8-days at PPR was WAY less than that - and we stayed in Royal Service. Is this a rack rate from online or a special rate through a travel agent? If its not a TA rate, I would recommend looking into one. We saved a LOT of money that way and got some freebies thrown in.

We got married at Paradisus Punta Cana and while some guests stayed for a week, most stayed 4-nights (although they wish they had stayed more) and it was more like $379pp for 3 nights, plus $179pp per night extra, plus airfare.

There isn't much need for spending money, other than tipping and souvenirs. Everything else should be included..

I am very interested to see where your $4000 per person is coming from. It's a little outlandish for Punta Cana - which is overall a very affordable place to go for DW's.

And if you are in eastern Canada - I know most airfares are exceptionally reasonable...

I am staying at the Palma Real and i upgrader to the top of everything bc this will be a once in a life thing trip and it 5959 +air for two people for 7 night. So I think that is kinda high inless thats for the top of the line room. At Palma Real 4 day 3 night was 8 somthing a person plus air and I now there are other places that are lower.

I am in Western Canada and all inclusive trips from here to Dominican everytime we have gone were around $1600 plus taxes so depending on what taxes are usually ends up around $1900-$2000/person. I did not find too much that was less there were a couple hotels like Dreams that were like $1400 plus taxes but from Western Canada if that is where you are but I haven't seen much cheaper. Our family in Eastern Canada is paying around $300-$400 less but they have a shorter flight time we have about 8hr flight from Edmonton.

I think it works out to be cheaper for a 7 day all inclusive for Canadians. We generally buy as a package deal and do not get to separate them out like you can in the US for DR, Jamaica and Mexico. My MOH in the US did hers separate and it was cheaper than what we got as a group rate.

If you are close to a border, have you looked at flying out from the US?

I know where you are coming from though, we looked at the Majestic when we first started planning. Regular and group rates came back too high for our guests as well. They only wanted to spend $1500 taxes in. We ended up going with the Melia which has the option of regular rooms and upgraded Royal Service rooms. My wedding was just as beautiful as I imagined even though we didn't get our first choice for resort.

Have you looked at the RIU's or another complex type resort or is your heart set on the Majestic? Complexes give guests options pricewise. If you go that route, make sure though you aren't paying extra fee's or have to rules that you have to have the wedding in a specific location (e.g. Riu's have a rule, wedding is where 80% of guests are staying).

It's tough when you have a DW, because you know some people can't make it regardless of how much they want to go.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
