Wedding in 5 months, only 5 booked so far!!!???

Recommended Posts

I wouldn't freak out yet...you've still got some time. I have 9 weeks left and my MOH and one of my best friends just booked this past weekend. My cousin and flower girl have their flights, but haven't booked the hotel yet. I think people are hoping prices will come down right before and that's why they wait. It's also a lot of money to give up in times like these. Everyone may be waiting to the very last possible second. Just know that the people who you mean the most to will be there no matter what and that's all that matters. I love the fact that we did a DW for this reason. Only my closest family and very best friends are going to take the time and money to be there, and that makes it so special!

It's so difficult to wait for the responses, but I can understand where you're coming from. You'd expect family to be the first to get booked, then friends to be iffy.

We decided to get married in Florida because so many were hesitant when we mentioned possibly going to Mexico, silly I know but they were. So we figured we'd just go ahead and do it in the states. What I found funny is that none of them would really come out and say they were uncomfortable with Mexico but it was obvious by their reactions that they weren't comfortable with going there. Personally I love Mexico and have been there several times, but I guess with the swine flu, etc they're worried about traveling down there so maybe they're having the same reservations about going and just not telling you?

My wedding is in December and we have only had a handful of people book (1cool.gif. None of our parents has even booked yet and both our parents are divorced so that is 4 bookings! I wouldn't worry until about 2 months out if people haven't booked. Many people wait until the 2 - 3 month mark to book vacations.

I am going to send out a reminder email at the end of May and send my invites out early to try and get people going. We'll see.....

it is alwasy easiest to recognize that what is your critical priority is not others priority. I found that people are self serving, not that this is a bad thing per se, but if it is going to come down to a vacation of ther choice, they may choose to do that over your wedding, just the way life is. THose that recognize how imporant this is for you and your FI will be there and you have plenty of time to figure it out. People were still booking up until a week before we left.

We first brought up the idea to have a DW at our family christmas & all 40 people there were so excited & said "Oh heck yeah, we'll be there." We leave a week from Sunday & are taking 12 people. So, I think it's very common for people to say that they will go, then don't end up booking for whatever reason. Oh well, the most important people will be there (being you 2 & your parents.) Try not to stress, you still have 5 months, most likely more people will book.

destination weddings are tricky but it is your wedding and the people who can make it will. I wont know if some people can make mine untill two weeks before (my grandma is very sick but it gives her something to look forword too and seems to be getting a bit better)

I'm sure it is stressful for you but don't worry about it. I do know how you feel, right now we have 6 people booked which are his parents, my mom, grandma, sister & niece. I am not going to worry about it. Others have said they were coming but I am not going to worry about it anymore than I already have. I know times are hard and understand if they can't make it because I am going to enjoy myself regardless if they are there are not.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
