Erin - Good Luck on friday!! I hope that Satan steps out of hell for a second to do the right thing for Brianna!

No matter what- I say REFUSE Satan's presence at the wedding. I would DIE if my FI's ex wife came!

Thanks for your great advice on my other thread :)

I'll be checking back and praying everything works out for u!

i have a very sad and disappointing update to make to my original question for everyone.

this weekend we were trying to work through the situation with my future stepdaughter's mom. in the end, she decided that since she was going to miss school and the legal custody agreement said our extra time has to be during summer or christmas then she was not going to allow her to come with us. (FI and I do not have jobs that allow us to leave during the holidays or summer time... April is literally the only month we can do it) she also mentioned that people who live in the caribbean hate americans and her daughter's life would be at risk. (i understand being concerned for your child's safety, but it sounded a little like she was reaching there)

we tried to tell her that although the court docs may say one thing, she still had the power to say that it was cool because it is so important. still no. she continued to berate FI, tell him he wasn't an attentive father, that he didn't do enough. finally she came out and said that if it wasn't for me he would still be a worthless, no good low life living with his parents and mooching off of everyone else. (btw.. he lived with his parents because he was paying for all of his daughter's expenses and couldn't afford a place of his own)

i tried to be reasonable, but when you disrespect someone i love and think you can stand in my house and get away with it, you've got another thing coming. i promptly slammed the door in her face and screamed a few not-so-nice things through the door.

so, my future step daughter will not be attending our DW. she will wear her flower girl dress and carry her beach pail at our legal day instead and i pray that she will not hold this against her dad when she's older since there was literally nothing she could do.

sorry for such a long post, but i had to vent. FI's family was nothing but supportive and told us they didn't judge us for going ahead with the wedding we have already started planning. it would satisfy my stepdaughter's mom SO much to know we changed just for her. i love that little girl so much and pray one day she knows the truth and realizes how much her dad loves her and how much he fights for her.

thank you all for listening so much!! soooo good to get it off my chest a little bit!

        Ohhh Erin, sorry to hear
I think when she's older she'll be able to understand the situation. For now, she won't even know what she's missing if you don't tell her too much. I think your plans for the legal day sound great!

The worst part is your FI's daughter. She's really the only one who is going to suffer. FI's ex just doesn't get it.

I'm glad that even though my parents hate eachother, they were always fair when it came to things like that! My mom got married to her 3rd (currently on #4!) husband in Vegas. I missed school, but I got to go. I took my homework from school and did it in the airport/on the plane. I was 10, maybe 11.

If your FI is up to it, he can contact the court and request permission. That way, it goes before a judge...and they tend to be fair. Just think of every possible situation that could be brought up and have an answer for it. My friend won a vacation at her work to go to Hawaii in February and her daughter's dad took her to court and they asked a bunch of questions to each parent and decided it was in the daughter best interest to go on the vacation and miss school. You never know!
I have a fabulous photographer I can share in the United States Virgin Islands in late April/early MayP.M. if interested!http://img.weddingco....pvbh7hxc5u.png

I think you should totally do this. You have some time before your wedding. Take the bitch to court!
