My Mom passed when I was 17 years old. It's been nearly 9 years now... she had a very rough life and passed away from cirrhosis of the liver. A very hard and sad way to go. When she died, I saw a butterfly fly away. That is my guiding spirit now.

Martin and I just got back from celebrating Mother's Day with his Mom. It all of a sudden hit us that we are leaving for our wedding 1 week from TUESDAY!!!

Mom, I miss you so much, and I pray that you will be there in spirit on our wedding day to see what a wonderful, caring and brilliant man I chose to spend the rest of my life with.

I'm in tears right now, but it's not all sad... just very emotional.

I decided the other day to make my something old a gift from my Grandma - she had my parents wedding bands melted down and remade into a pinkie ring for me. It doesn't fit but I have a pouch on my garter belt to hold my "sixpence". I hope I can find that ring and that it will fit into the pouch as well so that I can carry a part of my mom through the ceremony...

    Mom, I love you...

We had 24 people attend our wedding in Las Caletas, Mexico on May 24th, 2009!

We all stayed at The Marriott in P.V., and Honeymooned at The Royal Plantation in Ochos Rios, Jamaica!

Aww Jamie your mom will definitely be with you on your wedding day. I love the idea of the ring on your garter belt.

      My prayers are with you!

oh girl I love you! I had a rough day too. My dad died 10 years ago today. It was a rough mommas day. Its so hard this year cause all I can think about is I'm getting married in a couple months and he won't be there to walk me down the aisle. I've spent alot of time on the phone w/ my grandma (what a rough day to celebrate being a mother on the 10 yr anniversary of your youngest childs death), and my lil sis. She's always had a rough time when the anniversary comes around and she's preggers so its kinda her 1st mothers day.

I'm here for you girl! You're momma will be there!

aww jaime, i just totally cried reading this. *hugs* i think the ring on your garter belt will be a really sweet and personal way to carry her with you. i have to ask, are you incorporating butterflies in your wedding at all? i think it could be another really beautiful way to honor her memory without being too sad on your happy day. i know she will be smiling down upon your wedding, and as others have said, so very proud of the woman you've become!

Jaime and Jacilyn I am 150% sure that your parents will be with you on your wedding days. It is always the holidays, milestones and important events that hurt the most -- when you start to wish those we've lost were with us to share in those special moments. But I truly do think our loved ones are always looking down at us during those times, showering us with love, sunshine and all the happiness in the world*

For me it's the grandparents I miss so much ~ but in my heart I know they'll be there in spirit, making sure my day is even more special

Jaime-your mom will be there for sure on your wedding day. That is so sweet to wear the pinky ring as your sixpence. I am so sorry for your loss and I am sending you tons of hugs!

I must say, the pinkie ring is an awesome filler for the sixpence...

                  Thinking of you.

This was my mom's first mother's day without my grandmother and this father's day will be my FI's first without his father. It's super hard. Sending you big hugs!
