I am curious..there are so many Dreams and Riu brides

Recommended Posts

I went with Dreams because I loved the size of the resort, not too small not to big. I felt like had a fun atmosphere for me and my friends but not too crazy for my parents and thier friends. I mostly loved that Dreams has so much experience with weddings and if I was going to plan every part of my wedding via email. Their experience comforted me.

dreams and RIU are both very popular and have popular wedding packages that seem to fit a lot of peoples budgets and wants/needs. there are SO many hotels/resorts, and everyone is looking for different things. a lot of people choose what works best for them and dont spend an immense amount of time researching other places because they love what they found and are happy with it, why bother looking at something else?

or maybe when doing research they didnt run across melia or the villa or their TA didnt suggest these places to them.

there could be numerous reasons why people dont choose those 2 and go with dreams or RIU resorts instead.

dreams & rui advertise for destination weddings. when you start searching, they are usually the first ones you will find. They have more wedding info on their site than many other hotels.

the hotel where I was married was not as popular for weddings. Even if you were looking for their site & wedding info directly, it was hard to find. at first I only could find people who got married at my hotel because they had happened to vacation there before.

I found that by getting married at a hotel that didn't do a ton of wedding business, I avoided a lot of the nickle & dimeing that it sounds like other brides get.

I just googled "destination wedding cabo" an rui has a paid ad on the right side.

to go against what morgan has said, i think it is more than just advertising.

Dreams and riu have facilites set up to do weddings 9gazebos, seperate catering dept.). like they have gazebos, a dedicated wedding department. They are also all-inclusive and that is what alot of DW brides and grooms are looking for. Also, along with resorts like palace resorts they offer "free" weddings and will handle arranging the legal or symbolic ceremony.

also, villa del arco is mostly eropean plan. they do have an all-inclusive plan but it is more than what you would pay at dreams.

I think another thing to keep in mind is that people that have their wedding at dreams or riu tend to have a great review upon their return and write about it. a good review says alot more than any paid advertisement.

The reason we chose the RIU Ocho Rios was based on a few things:

1. it had GREAT reviews on Trip advisor

2. Friends have stayed at this resort in the past and raved about it.

3. it was a good size, not too big and not to small

4. also since they do specialze in weddings, i dont think we will be dissapointed!!

Hope this helps.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
