Am I being selfish?

Recommended Posts

I am TTCing right now and if someone asked me to wait 6 months it would be a HUGE deal. I cant say i want to get pregnant in a month and than BAM i'm pregnant. it doesnt work that way. It could take me a year or more of trying to get pregnant. You never know.

It seems like a lot of women travel pregnant with no problems. I'm sure if she's not too far along she can go. If i were you, I would just be happy for my friend and if my friend couldnt make my wedding, yeah i would be bummed for a few minutes but i would realize that my friends health and the health of her baby is really more important. I know when your a b2b you are focused on your wedding, how you want everything to be perfect, you want every detail planned out, and you know who you want there. But unfortunately it doesnt always work out that way, you have to adjust your plans a little. So count her as your moh and if she cant make it than you have someone else step in or you dont have a wedding party at all, you just have to roll with the punches. It may not be exactly what you pictured in your head but the main thing is that your marrying the man of your dreams.

You guys are all right and have helped me see the situation differently. I have never been worried about her being pregnant in pictures or the festivities but more the fact that I am going to feel responsible if something happens to her or the baby b/c she wouldn't be down there if it weren't for me. I will trust her judgment and just pray that everything turns out alright.

Thanks again! Sometimes this bride thing sucks and I find myself getting a little wrapped up in all of the hoopla.

Haha, I totally understand! The bride thing had me making decisions that I went back and changed because it's like you have to think a certain way!

Good luck with everything and enjoy the process! It'll all be perfect!! Don't worry!

I'm glad you were able to see it from another point of view. Sometimes weddings can become a little crazy because brides can get wrapped up in the "it's all about MEEEEEEE" mentality- which it technically is, but there must be some balance. Just because it's your wedding, it's not exactly acceptable to step all over others. Do what's right for you, but don't necessarily expect others to bow down and do what's right for you as well- KWIM?

The best approach- just let things roll off your back. All the drama is so not worth it and by the time you get hitched, you will sit back and wonder why you allowed such small things to bother you. Focus on the positive and you will get through all the wedding stress. Good luck!

  • 2 months later...

I just found out my niece, who is one of my bridesmaid's is pregnant and will not be able to attend a DW Wedding. I am sad that she will not be able to come, but am totally ok with with and super happy for her! She has been trying for a long time.

My problem is with her dress. I am having a reception back home and she will be still be coming to that. She will still need to buy a bridesmaid dress, but have no clue what size she would be. The reception will be one month after she gives birth, so I am sure she will still have some baby weight on. And she doesn't want to get the dress before she starts showing because it will be too tight after giving birth.

Have anyone else had this problem and how did they go about dress shopping?

Thanks!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
