The Tudors?

I wanted to know if anyone watches this?

I've always been intrigued by this point in history and love reading about it. I've heard about this show for quite a while and I loved the Other Boleyn Girl. So I bought the first two seasons on DVD and I'm halfway through Season 2. I got to say I'm really enjoying it. I do realize not all of it is very historly accurate but I do some googling to find out how much is or to get some back story about a character. I'm watching right now 100 Days of Anne Boleyn and am watching Mary Queen of Scots next.

I wanted to see if anyone wanted to discuss their thoughts on the show or even other movies or books about The Tudors. And really how great JRM is at playing Henry VIII. He sure is good looking!

Ya know, I love the Tudors and I did the same thing as you. I kept seeing previews for Season 2 before that came out and it looked awesome, so I watched all of season 1 on demand and I was hooked!!

So I googled it to see how much was true and it seems pretty accurate, although I'm sure they go overboard on some stuff.

I think JRM does a great job as Henry and I don't remember him being that hot in Bend it like Beckham!! LOL

I am addicted to this show.

I thought that this season wouldn't be the same without Ann Boelyn. I loved her, however, It's still good. I'm excited for Joss Stone to come in as his 4th wife.

I haven't seen a single episode of The Tudors yet but I am also so interested in this part of history. I read the Other Boleyn Girl and also watched the movie and IMO the book was way better than the movie. I am waiting for a copy of the first season to be available at the library. I didn't want to buy it in case I didn't like it. Now I can't wait for it, hopefully I get it in a couple of weeks.

He is definitely HOT! I haven't seen Anne Boleyn dying yet. I'm still not done with Season 2. I do know Aimee you can watch it online. I'll have to find the link or google it. I just finished Anne of a Thousand days and Mary Queen of Scots. They were ok but of course they are from the 60-70's. I should be getting Elizabeth and Elizabeth the Golden age soon. I've heard they are quite good too. But man trying to figure out how everyone is related is difficult!

I started watching this- i got it through netflix but it didn't capture my attention too well. I think I only watched a few episodes. Maybe I didn't give it long enough because I really love this time period as well. I'm completely fascinated iwht the Tudors and have read lots of books based upon their lives.

Calia- I liked Elizabeth and the Golden Age. She was truly a remarkable woman and it's so intriguing to watch her transformation. Her life must have been so exhausting- constantly worrying about some dude trying to dethrown her.

LOVE this show- don't know how I missed this thread! I've been watching it from the first season and I'm so dissappointed that this season's finale is coming up already. Natalie Dormer (Anne Bolyn) was really great so this season has been a little weird without her on it, but Joss Stone is doing pretty well!

Everyone needs to catch up so we can talk about it!

I am a HUGE history buff and I absolutely love this show-- it is fairly accurate so far (although yes, very dramatic). My FI laughs at me b/c he thinks it's pointless that I'm watching a show where I already know what's going to happen - haha.

It is very similar to Ann Boleyn's biography (I have a read a few but Alison Weir's is my favorite author, her Elizabeth I biography is also great) - also a good read is Mary Queen of Scots (Henry VIII's first daughter by Queen Katherine - season 1) by Antonia Frasier. Because the books are of course non-fiction they're kind of hard to get through, but they really are great... and it helps to watch to the show to actually know what's going on and who is who!!!

And it totally helps that JRM is so darn HOT! wow.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
