On the Beach Reception??

Recommended Posts

I wanted to pick you ladies' brains on Beach Receptions! I think they look gorgeous, but it seems like

1. it's not a popular option for brides on here (from what I've seen at least!)

2. it's not something offered at a ton of places (also from what I've seen)

I just love they way they look, I'm not sure if it's practical though! I wanted to see if the places you picked offered it and/or why you chose or didn't choose it!

Thanks in advance for the help/insight :)

You can have a beach Reception at the Palma Real. I didn't want to do this for a few reason: 1) You have to worry about sand getting in your food that was by big one.

2)The windy like someone else had said. 3) You have to pay more for thing i.e. a dance floor maybe moe lighting if you don't like what they already have. Do get me wrong I have seen some very pretty Beach Receptions, but it just wasn't for me.

I like the idea of a beach reception too, but I'm worried that weather like rain and wind will make it difficult.. As well, your party could be in the dark if the hotel surroundings don't have a lot of lighting.. But beach receptions do make for great photos! :)

I am having my wedding and reception on the beach at The Royal Playa Del Carmen. It does seem like not too many brides have theirs on the beach...but it was so "US" that I don't really care if it is windy.

Honestly, so many things could go wrong during the day that I am not the least bit concerned...and looking very much forward to our beach wedding

I had my wedding and reception on the beach. Both perfect for us, as I didnt want to plan a DW just to have a reception inside a restaurant (I could have did that in the US). The weather was wonderful and not too windy for the reception. It was very intimate and made all of our guests feel special. One thing, if you are planning on doing lots of dancing, your resort may have to setup a dance floor/stage on the beach as it tends to be hard to dance in sand :)

Most resorts offer beach receptions (or will bend if you ask), but of course, will attach a 'nominal fee' to it. I think mostly due to the extra lighting and setup they would have to do.

I lucked out and had my reception on the night my resort had its beach party, so lighting was already set up and since we had less than 25 people, we were able to be moved far away from the beach party but still close enough to take part in it (if that makes any sense, lol) + we had our own security guards (which were standing in the distance). I also used some paper luminaries I bought from home that the coordinator used as decorations to line the walkway to our table. After the reception dinner, we just joined in the beach party festivities and pretty much partied all night long! bunny_4.gif

The only thing, I don't have many pics of the reception setup, b/c we only booked our photographer for so long + it was really dark. So keep that in mind as well.

Happy planning :)

We first had our hearts set on a beach reception but when we did the site visit about 1.5 month before, we decided nto to because:

1. there were a lo tof mosquitoes at night and

2. we wanted a dancefloor

3. walking around in my dress on the beach would annoy me all night long.

So we had a beach ceremony and then did our cocktail hour and reception on land. :)

Thanks so much for the input ladies!! I figured the sand and set-up, but for some reason totally forgot about lighting!

Twinkletoes, just curious.... which hotel did you get married at?

    • Dental care would be very challenging when you are invited to a wedding. Everyone needs a clean and white teeth. I was also looking for a dental clinic in Toronto but all of the Doctor were busy. This was when I found Walk in Dental Clinic in Yonge Street just south of Steels. Since they were open until midnight, I did not have to leave my work early to get to my dentist. This dental clinic used dental veneers for my teeth and at the wedding everyone was asking me how I created my smile very nice.  The fact that they accept emergency patients for dental care is also very good. before the wedding, I recommend using this dentistry. If you need emergency dental care in Toronto visit Dr Karimi and Walk in dental clinic for their great patient care and service.
    • I'm so sorry to hear this  Did you have a signed contract with him? What did he or the contract say the turn around time be? If it is way past the deadline, you have made several documented attempts to contact him, and he has broken your contract and failed to produce what has been promised, you could resort to writing an online review of your experience -- often times, that motivates vendors who've dropped the ball to rectify the situation because it affects other potential clients.
    • STAY AWAY FROM CARIBBEAN EMOTIONS PHOTOGRAPHY!!!! Michael Weiler is a SCAMMER he took our money and disappeared!! we hired him as our photographer for our wedding back in November, he gave us a run around for the first week or 2 saying our pictures are almost ready and then disappeared. we have been sending him emails, texts and phone calls for the past 4 months and he is now where to be found. I made a fake account to email him and he answered right away as he is only interested in taking peoples money and not give anything in return.
    • For weddings you should definitely use a travel agent as there are promotions and amenities with a group block that you will not get by booking individually like comped rooms, upgrades, spa treatments, etc.
    • Congratulations and welcome to the forum! There are lots of great resort options in Punta Cana and we have stayed at or toured many of them.  Are you looking for a family friendly resort or adults only?  What you interested in with nature and the ceremony? All of the resorts will have different wedding locations and there are also a variety of off resort wedding venues in Punta Cana. Please feel free to email us at info@wrighttravelagency.com if you'd like us to send resort info and check group rates. Thanks! Patty
