I am also considering this place for our reception. I was just curious if anyone was willing to share what their total costs came out be for the reception here (and how many people).

As far as i counted, it would be about $5000 for 25 people approximately. Whereas the resort would only really be the price of the wedding package (if not doing a private reception). Also it seems that La Barcaza boat would be cheaper as well.

Can anyone shed some light on the mystery? Thanks :)

Great choice you guys made, BarbnHans! well done, to follow your instincts and make your wedding celebration uniquely yours - with your distinct "signature"......very impressive! From your pictures, it looks like not only did you make the best memories ever! but saved a bundle doing it.....so that's a super "pay-off" as a bonus.......I salute your wisdom.

To the ladies using the Jellyfish: are you having your ceremoney at your resort of choice or the jellyfish?

If it is at the resort are you purchasing the minimum packages at the resort?

I'm trying to figure out logistics if I booked the melia..would i even hae to reserve a date with melia?

i hope my question makes sense

At the Jellyfish, we paid the same OR possibly less than we would have had we got married at the resort, but we got so much more! It is very romantic and intimate there. Though all beaches are public, there was hardly anyone there; be forewarned though that alot of the boat excursions are close by and can be quite noisy (it didn't bother us though in the least -- half way through our ceremony, we were entertained by the macarena). We had the upstairs to ourselves and it was arranged for a long table for the 8 of us and then large white pillows and sofa's around the perimeter for everyone to lounge - and after a large, incredibly delicious, exquisitely presented meal, lounge everyone did! Mayte is fabulous with an incredible eye for detail. I pride myself in being the "party planner extraordinaire" back here in BC so I brought decorations and was going to put it all together myself. I'm so glad that I did not have to as Mayte had it all done and it looked far better than I had imagined it would. She used my things but integrated some of her own and it was beyond beautiful. It made us all cry when we walked up the stairs! I just wish I hadn't wasted so much time worrying about it for the last 6 months. For whoever decides to go to the Jellyfish, RELAX because Mayte is amazing and really, REALLY, cares about your wedding. She arranged everything from the pastor to the flowers. (when the bouquet that I had ordered arrived, it was wilted so Mayte sent it back, bought flowers and put together a bouquet just moments before I arrived and they were great! How cool is she?)

Back to the food. We ordered a small caprese salad for everyone to start, we ordered 2 of the seafood grill which are huge platters of seafood with lobster, langoustines, conch, calamari, sea bass and red snapper (we could have easily stopped eating at this point), and then everyone chose between the filet mignon, seabass in passionfruit and ginger sauce, or seafood pasta. Everything was so beautifully presented, and it was so delicious that we knew we were going to have a hard time going back to eat at the Majestic Colonial.

After dinner everyone lounged around, had coffee and then we had the cake. None of us wanted to leave! Also, everyone said that it was the best wedding that they had ever been to and they were so grateful that we did our research.

Here's the link to some photos. I tried to pick ones to showcase the Jellyfish. Some of them are not very good quality -- those would be the ones I took. The rest are done by Photosouvenirs whom I highly recommend.

BarbNHans!

Your pics are beautiful!! I have read quite a bit about the Jellyfish rest, and wanted to go there for dinner, but after seeing the pics of your wedding there, I am now considering this as an option for our wedding!!!

We are not planning to go until Feb 2011, and really do not know what our quest list will look like until we get actual pricing and select our resort, we are deciding between the Barcelo Bavaro Palace Deluxe or Majestic Elegance, but we like the stay and play option of 5 other reorts if we go with the Barcelo Palace Deluxe.....Ahh decisions!!

Do you know what the min-max number of quests they will accomodate? We are looking at anywhere from 10-30 guests. Do you have any pricing info for planning a wedding and reception at the Jellyfish that you could pass along?

Thanks and Congrats!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
