Thanks for the confirmation of accepting CC's for meals! That makes for less cash that we'll need to carry with us. We can carry money for taxi fares and such, but considering we were going to do the big surf n turf with drinks etc. we really weren't crazy about carrying that in addition to what need to have on hand to pay the photog and the priest.

I'm excited! I've read good reviews about this place so hopefully it will all work out well.
meli,

what package were you planning to go with at ppc if you were having your reception there? i haven't done all of the calculation yet, but im not sure how jellyfish would be less expensive. they charge for decorating, transporation, and then food. are you doing a dinner reception or appetizers? i need to run my numbers to see if its cheaper. i do like the no time limit. what are you doing to after dinner? will the guest stay their to dance, etc?

Originally we were doing the Aqua package and they charge $60 for each person over 20 in addition to the $3000 package price (and additional fees for DJ, sound system, dancefloor in ballroom etc.). I have 45 people coming. I don't have the calculations with me but it came out to slightly cheaper at Jelly Fish. The price difference wasn't very big (less than $1000). It's the no time limit that made me go with them. I have friends and family coming from all over and we haven't seen each other in a while. I don't want to feel rushed. We are doing dinner there and then staying to dance. We've booked a DJ through Jelly Fish and have the downstairs section to ourselves.

Same here. Sometimes she's really quick and other times it take her a while to get back to me. I imagine she's very busy given how popular the restaurant seems to be. If you're on gmail you can also gchat with her. She's on pretty regularly.

She has been pretty good getting back to me, usually within a couple of days.

This question may have been answered, but are there any complaints about the food at Jellyfish?

I heard the food is awesome and much better than the hotel food. There are some people on trip advisor who complained about the food but you are never going to please everyone. Im just hoping people will be having so much fun that the food won't be the most important part! I definitely dont think the dominican is known for its food, unfortunately. I hope the beautiful beaches make up for it.

Is anyone doing the ceremony and reception at the jellyfish?

Great to hear! I'm thinking about doing just the reception there but is it worthwhile paying $1000 to have the entire restaurant to yourself? I'm having about 45 guests and Mayte said it would be held downstairs (dancing and all)...would there be other guests dining there as well if I don't pay $1000? I'm on a tight budget and definitely want to cut costs where ever I can.

Thanks,
Lisa

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
