I'm happily married :) (Riviera Maya, May 2nd)

Hello Ladies !!

Just a little word here to say I had such a wonderful wedding on Saturday !! I was sad to be missing some of my closest friends, that had to cancel for very good reasons (one of them has a 2-months old baby needing surgery beginning of June and did not want to take any risk ; another had final exams after a 2-years class and could not afford to be stuck in Mexico if anything happened ; another friend had his flight cancelled... and 2 got threatened with lay-offs). In the end I had 10 guests cancelling over an initial 30. We ended up with two big tables instead of 3. That was even more intimate than anticipated, and awesome.

Anyway, here on the Riviera Maya, there are still no cases reported and life goes on as usual. Playa del Carmen is alive with restaurants and bars open , the sun is shining and the wind is blowing. The only thing is, the archeological sites are still closed. We are still staying for our honeymoon though !

My wedding was fantastic. I will write a review when coming back, but everything went so well. Juliette from Papillon Weddings took care of everything and I did not have to move a toe. The hotel has been super accomodating with everything, specially given the circumstances - a very good come back from a bad start. A lot of people told me it was the most moving ceremony they attended.

I can't wait to see my pictures and video - I feel that everything went so fast I did not really enjoy it enough. Also, I'm a big photog myself and feel so strange about not having taken pics myself. Can't wait to see. I asked Claudia Rodriguez if she could send me one or two teasers to help me wait ! We'll see.

Well ladies that plan to go to Mexico - honestly just go - or wait and see and don't re-plan everything ! Right now the Riviera Maya is safer than Houston or NYC (everything is open air and there are no cases), there's really nothing to worry about. People start to realize it's not that serious - within two weeks it might just get solved.

I'm so glad I went. The stress of the first 3 days was terrible - receiving mails and text messages and calls of people who could not decide and wanted US to tell them what to do - or people just cancelling when we thought they would come... but starting Friday, when most of our guests arrived, everything was so great.

Have a good day, I will post pics soon !

Congratulations!! SO happy for you guys and so glad it all worked out. Sounds like a perfect wedding and so glad you got to go through with your dream wedding as planned. Too bad about a few cancellations, but sounds like they would have loved to be there if they could have. Still crossing my fingers here that we are able to leave for Mexico in a few weeks!! :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
