What do I do about Military uniforms?

Recommended Posts

Ok so I have NO idea what to do here. Before this was not an issue as we were told military couldn't wear their uniforms in Mexico. Well we have now been told they can.

So Joe's little sister is one of my BM and she is a Marine, one of Joe's older brothers is a GM and a Marine. Originally they were going to wear the same thing the other BM and GM are wearing. I asked BM what size dress to order from her and she told me her size and then said what about dress blues for the ceremony?

I am not going to tell them no. Wearing their uniform is an honor and I am proud to have a sis and bro serving in the Marines. I asked her if she wanted to I would be okay with them wearing that. She then replied with whatever we wanted she would be okay with. Has anyone had someone in their party wear their dress blues when the bride and groom aren't military. At first all I could think of was pictures, but I really don't care. What do you guys think?

I don't think its right to tell her no she can't where her blues but since she said its up to me I don't know what to do. What is the right thing to do? It would be nice to have pics of both of them together in their blues, we don't have those and don't even know when we'd have the opportunity. But I need some advice on what to do!

Hey Jacilynda, I think ultimately the decision is up to you. I personally would Not want anybody in my wedding party to wear their blues. My FI and all his best friends are in the Air Force, but I would NOT want them to wear their uniforms in my wedding especially for a beach ceremony. Whatever works for you is GREAT, because it's your wedding and your pictures!

What would the rest of the wedding party wear if those 2 wore their blues?

What does your FI think about it?

Joe doesn't care, we have 4 BM and 4 GM, the other girls are wearing a green dress and the guys are wearing white linen shirts and linen pants. Can I ask why you would NOT let them wear their uniform? Is it just how it would look?

They would only be wearing their blues for the ceremony and then changing into the same attire as the other attendants for the reception so they can really party.

I think it will be hot and may look a little funny but I'm so torn cause i don't feel its right to tell them no. So I need so much advice on this

For me its beacuse they have plenty of opportunity to wear their blues and I will only have 1 wedding. My FI wears his every other Monday and doesn't even like to wear it. I know he and his friends would NOT want to wear them. Also, I think they will be HOT and look kind of silly on the beach in blues. I think if the two of you don't mind, then go for it! Do you think you will look at the pictures and have regrets?

Your situation makes sense to me. I don't think I'll have any regrets when I look at photos. I'm torn cause she brought it up. And I don't know when we'll ever have both of them together in their blues. Joe is texting his bro about it to see what he thinks which will definitely help us out. I'm wondering if anyone has done this and what they think

Hmmm, tough call. I do not have anyone in the military so not the best person to ask! But, if it's worth anything, #1 I would see just how much it means to them, truly - if it's 50/50 I'd say go forth with your regular outfits. But that's just me! I think it's your wedding, and that takes precedence. Sounds kinda selfish, but that is what I would do....

OR, if you do have them end up in their dress blues, have those two walk down the aisle together - that would be kinda cute. And maybe have them both stand at the end of the line or something?? Would still look good for pics...

I'm trying to find pictures of what it would possibly look like, But I keep finding pictures of the Groom wearing a uniform and the wedding party wearing traditional beach wear. I'll keep looking and honestly in the pictures I've found the Groom doesn't look HOT in uniform on the beach.

If we had the guys wearing tuxes I think it would look great, but Joe would never have a wedding where they all had to wear tuxes no matter what the location. and if joe was military I would absolutely say yes. We keep going back and forth!

I've been looking for pics too, but it always includes the groom in uniform!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
