hello everyone

we were hoping to get married in mexico nov/09 - but now are not sure

is anyone else out there scared of the flu that is kicking around? it is a second marriage for us both and i have a 8 year old from my preivous marriage so the resort we pick must be kid friendly - but i dont want it to be too kid orienated either so that the guests who are coming with us wont be bored.

Hello,

I just joined too. We are also planning to have our wedding in Mexico- in Dec 09. While we are holding off booking right now mostly because we know it would make some of our guests uncomfortable to put down a deposit at the moment we are still planning to have it there. Realistically if you look at the other recent pandemic scares (sars, avian flu) none of them lasted 8 months and by the sounds of it they are taking all the precautions they can right now in Mexico to make sure it doesn't spread. So hopefully they're able to nip it in the bud before more people get sick (same goes for Canada or we're in trouble too)!

Sorry I'm no help with the resorts. The only one I've been to and where we're getting married (Catalonia Royal Tulum) is an adults-only. Good luck with your search, don't stress!

Hello and welcome to the forum!

I'm getting married in Mexico in October and we're still going ahead with our plans. There's been NO documented cases in the Riviera Maya (where our wedding is) but there HAS been documented cases where we live. We had planned on sending out our invitations this past week but are holing off for a few weeks until the hype dies down because we didn't want everyone to reply "no" right away. If it's something that really concerns you, you have plenty of time to change your location.

Where in Mexico are you thinking of getting married in? Forum members should be able to give you some resort suggestions that fit your requirements!

Hello, and welcome! I, too, am a November bride. I'm not worrying about the flu at all. While it may be a cause for concern, it's not a cause for panic, and I'm optimistic that by November it will be a distant memory!

As for kid friendly resorts, I've only ever been to an adults-only resort, El Dorado Seaside which is part of the Karisma chain. They do have a few family friendly resorts called Azul Beach and Azul Sensatori. If the service is the same at the Azul resorts as it was at the El Dorado resorts, you would have nothing to worry about!

Good luck and happy planning!

I was supposed to be in the Mayan on Monday for my wedding, and one of my bridesmaids Aunts lives there. We were in contact with her and she said she literally wasn't hearing anything about it. I think most of the hype is coming from the government and I am sure by November it will be smooth sailing! We were supposed to stay at the Barcelo and we've had friends that stayed there, they said it was great, at least something to look into. It's quite large and there seems like there's lots to do!

Best of luck with your wedding planning!

I'm still having my wedding in the MR in February but like other brides, I'm waiting for the hype to settle down before booking.

As for kid friendly resorts that are still fun for everyone else - I've stayed at the Barcelo and the Bahia Principe and both are very big with lots to do. Both also have a discotheque for those who want to go dancing.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
