I think $10,000 is around where we want to spend- we are not going to pay airfare for anyone- we just told people if they want to come then they should come. Our families and best friends are coming and that was what's important to us. This is an estimate of our budget: travel expenses $6000, dress $600, groom suit $200, Invites and save-the date cards (we are making them ourselves) $100 if not less, wedding package (flowers, chairs, leis, cake, music, photography, and beach location, etc...) $2000.

That's around $10,000 almost- there are other things too like a welcome dinner which would be nice but it's not necessary. If your really trying to stick to around $10,000 then just make sure that you cut a lot of unnecessary costs- we are getting married in maui and thats makes everything even more expensive smile41.gif Choose a simple wedding package but add on flowers for $200 and music- that's what we are doing and I know our wedding will be beautiful (flowers, ocean, and sand make everything beautiful!) . We will prob end up having a welcome dinner and a spa day but I am sure we will have have a dinner at a cute little intimate place instead of a big, fancy, expensive place. I always like when everything is more personal :) Whew that was long!

Our budget was also 10K (though everything included is about 13K total I think) and we're having our wedding at an AI, welcome dinner, open bar for all events (Yay AI!!!), splurging with 3k on photographer, videographer. The budget total includes his suit, best man's, my dress, moh's dress and OOT bag stuff. Luckily, this is all purchased in stages too so it doesn't all hit at once so all in all, I think we're doing ok on budget. It can totally be done, you just have to see where it is you are willing to splurge and where you aren't.

Yeah, no kidding. I had high hopes for a realistically budgeted wedding. No dice. We expected 40 people tops and already have 47 booked. smile72.gifExcited to have so many people coming ... but now the budget is TOTALLY out of whack. We'll figure it out somehow though!

I need help with my budget. One of the reasons I chose to have a DW was the money. Here in L.A. the prices are ridiculous!! I didn't want to spend thousands of dollars on a wedding that wasn't everything I wanted. Since choosing Dreams, Los Cabos I am having a hard time figuring our my budget. I know what I have to work with but I am unsure of how much everything costs down there. I know the price for the menu and ceremony fee, videographer and photographer but other than that I don't knwo what I will or can spend on other aspects of my wedding. Can anyone offer some advice. Just because I have a certain amount doesn't mean I want to spend all of it either. It's hard to make decisions when I am not sure how they fit into my budget. I was using the budget calculator from weddingchannel.com but it doesn't seem to allocate money to other parts of the budget when I am less than the suggested amount. Any advice?

Thanks,

Jess

Hey Jess - Extra things that I'm now running into (at the last minute might I add) is...

iPod set up

DJ

dance floor

OOT Bags....it keeps adding up!

The menu for the reception is sometimes for a certain amount of people. You have to pay over that - per person. Ours at Dreams Tulum is $55 pp extra over 20 people...argh!

luggage - - I still don't have lugggage =(

There's more, but it's still a little early!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
