Is/did anyone here choose a mermaid or trumphet shaped gown? I just saw a repeat of Say Yes to the Dress yesterday from last year where a curvy bride fell in love with an purchased a Lazaro trumphet shaped dress that Randy thought was a mistake.

First of all...if anyone knows where I can find that dress...or a good copy....please let me know. I liked the way she looked in it. Second....has anyone here chosen a mermaid/trumphet shaped gown to wear? I know that many think it is risky on a larger bride.

Personally...I want to be sexy and shapely....I thought that a trumphet gown might be a good compromise. Thanks.

bottom line: i think if you try one on and feel beautiful in it, then no one else's opinion (not even the experts') matters.

i LOVE trumpet style above all others, but with my personal body shape (very bottom heavy) i would have felt self-conscious and fat, not curvy and sexy. so despite loving the style, for me it was out. "curvy" means different things for all of us tho. if your weight is more evenly distributed, or if curvy just means big-busted for you, then go for it!

and i say try on at least one in that style regardless of what anyone says! i was pleasantly surprised at how i looked in some things that even *i* hated on the hanger or thought would be disasterous on me. good luck!

Thank you for the advice. I am more top heavy than anything...but have a bit of a stomach. I guess I will have to see how the style actually looks on me. I love the style though.

BTW...you were a beautiful bride!!!

classadiva - I completely agree with Lisa (cougs). Wear whatever makes you feel beautiful! I saw the episode of Say Yes to the Dress also and I thought "good for you girl!!". She got what she wanted and felt fabulous in her dress! That's what we all should feel like! cheesy.gif

Lisa...I love Randy....but I think he was wrong on this one....she felt amazing in that dress...she just lit up. I hope that the dress I find makes me feel that way.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
