Calling all *Curvacious* women!!

Denise, I am not to sure how old you are, I am guessing somewhere in your 20's and you have grown up with the ever grown information highway... Everywhere you look you see skinny skinny people it is so in your face. Twenty years ago when I was probably about your age there was no such friggin size as size 0 and if someone was that thin, "oh there is something wrong with her". Models back then had curves and boobs, today their flat as boards.

I think this day and age young women are under so much pressure to be thin it's disgusting. My FI daughter freaked out last summer when we took her back to school shopping because she had to buy a size 2 jeans and when she left school three month prior she was wearing a zero. She obessed about it for a month and weighed herself everyday. (the bathroom scale is now gone). At the time she was 14 (got her monthly visitor) and she weighed 103 lbs!!!!!!!!!! Oh and a friend told her to take "water reduction pills when she got her period".

There is this global obbession to be the right size at any cost. Well lets face it we're all different. I am ok with my weight from a visual stand point, I worry about my body carrying extra weight and the affect it has on it. I make jokes about being the chunky chic and that I don't skinny dip, I chunky dunk. I am who I am and I am happy, there are things I would change about me if i had a fairy godmother, my weight isn't in the top three. Love yourself honey, you have found a man that loves you, "all of you".

Have a great day... and anytime your feeling down come hang out with us chunky chics

omg, this is SO true. i'm in my late 30s and i know at least back in h.s. (maybe even during my college years) there was no such thing as a zero, a double zero, or an extra-small! not that i would have worn any of those, ever, LOL, but they simply didn't exist.

and yes, if anyone was that thin everyone would have assumed they were either a coke or heroin addict, or a serious anorexic who needed medical attention.

unless they are negatively effecting your health, embrace your curves, ladies! they're what separate the WOMEN from the girls!

I find it strange that there was a time when tiny sizes didn't exist, but I guess that's how our culture has changed. Something that I keep in mind about this is the fact that I am MORE than just apantsize. If I can get up in the morning and feel beautiful, then who cares what is written on the tag in my jeans? You ladies should be proud of who you are, because it isn't the size of clothes you wear that makes you, it's who you are.

You're right Susie, I'm 23. I'm about 33 in my mind, but unfortunately that doesn't change the generation I grew up in. I had about 5 really close friends in high school, and they ranged from less than zero (I'm TOTALLY not kidding, she shopped in the kid's section at 17) to about 5. I was 16-18. I felt totally disgusting, and had only ever dated two guys until I met FI. But he's SLOWLY (I'm a stubborn one, I get it from my mother) convincing me that I'm beautiful, and I'm finally starting to believe it :) I've even gained 35 lbs since we first met, and he still thinks I'm beautiful. So it's taken a lot of years, but I'm finally realizing that beauty comes in all sizes ^_^ And I'm actually glad that you can't see my ribs, because, as FI says, "Those girls need a porkchop!" lol

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
