Calling all *Curvacious* women!!

I've been fat all my life (including as a baby), and I will never be thin. I totally accepted that fact at the age of 30! I moved on with it and have been happy ever since. Helps to have found a man that loves me for my mind and my body, too! wink.gif I'll probably lose weight to be healthier, but I'll always be a fat girl.

I opted out of the traditional wedding dress and got an Ivory evening gown. Much cooler for a beach wedding! Got it at Nordstroms for a steal!

I saw on another thread that a girl is using this dress for TTD! Oh, well...

The thing that get me, is when people feel like it is okay to make comments about your weight. I would NEVER do that to someone who was too thin! But especially about my boobs. I cannot help that they are big, and you know what, when you have DDD boobs, once in a while a little cleav is going to show. What am I supposed to wear a turtleneck all the time?

I think that just bugs me, the boob thing, cause they have always been huge. I think the best thing is all of my life I was under the impression that i had to be thin to meet a good guy, had to be thin, had to be thin... and then I met FI when I had gained 20 pounds, and he still loved me more than anything! So there!! Hahaha... The media needs to stop making us curvy girls feel like crap... More to love!!

PS I know I have said it before, but I can't say enough about Davids bridal dresses. They look great on plus size girls, way better than the really expensive ones like from Kleinfelds. When I watch that show Say Yes to the Dress and they attempt to fit the plus size girls in a gown, I want to yell, "Go to Davids! They are making you look like a cupcake!!" And I love how stores only carry dressed like up to size 10 or 12.... get real!

i can agree that david's had a lot of dresses to try on in larger sizes. i didn't buy mine from there, but i had found one there i loved. it was more of a flowy beachy dress. in the end i went big and traditional because that's what made mom cry. wink.gif

also, i was really worried about the wedding pics. when it comes to DWs, all i ever saw were thin, model-esque girls in the photos. my DH (funny to say that ... it's only been a week) is 6'4" and 300 lbs, and i'm 5'8" and about 215. we are NOT that ideal-looking, magazine-type couple by any stretch of the imagination, and DH hates having pictures taken and generally isn't all that affectionate of a guy either. sounds like a recipe for AWFUL wedding photos, doesn't it? before the wedding, i had expressed these concerns in a thread about my photogs, and they saw it, and were kind enough to send me a really sweet email in an attempt to put my mind at ease about our pictures. they assured me that beautiful photos come from the way you express your joy, happiness, and love, and have very little to do with how you look. after seeing the photos they took, i have to agree. when the focus of an image is my HUGE, beaming smile as i'm gazing at tom adoringly, even *i* barely notice my back fat or flabby arms (and we are all our own worst critics). really and truly, you have to just let it go. know that your FI loves you just the way you are, and trust that love will shine through in your photos no matter what your size or body type.

Lisa, your pics are wonderful! You look gorgeous, and he looks great too! I got worried about that as well with pictures and all. I am 5'5 and chunky dunky and FI is 6'6 and lean and lanky... But we are happy, and that is what matters. You were beaming :)

Haha... we have a sign in out bathroom that says "We don't skinny dip, we chunky dunk" and everyone loves it. I ALMOST FORGOT TO TELL ALL OF YOU! I have another great website for plus size swimwear... it is 2009 Plus Size Swimwear and Swimsuits Alicia Simone I bought the 3 style convertible swimsuit and love it... It can be worn long like a dress or scrunched up, and it's a halter (more flattering). I am tempted to buy another!! Check it out!

WOW! Positively stunning...radiant, the whole nine! I can't pick just one, so I'll just say the entire slide show is gorgeous! You were workin' that dress, girl!

Seeing people cry at weddings makes ME cry, so I'm just gonna go bawl for a bit now. Be back later. lol CONGRATS on a beautiful wedding and being a beautiful bride!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
