Hey ladies!

So glad to have come across this thread.  You are all so positive and supportive of each other. So after lurking around and reading this thread for awhile and cutting out all my excuses I have started my whole new healthy lifestyle.  So far I have lost 12 lbs in the last few weeks.  It seems to be coming off pretty easy so far, but I have quite a bit to lose to be at my ideal weight.  My wedding is April 20, 2012 in Punta cana and I REALLY need to buy a dress soon.  I have been putting it off (in addition to putting my weight loss off).  I am afraid that when I lose more weight ( I would like to lose another 30-40 lbs by April) I just wont like the bigger dress any more.

BUT, I cant wait much longer or I will have trouble ordering a dress in time.

What did you girls do?  Just order it and take it in/figure it out later?  I fit into an 18 or 20 dress size now in most bridal shops, but hoping to be in a 12-14.  Will taking that much in leave me with the same dress??

hi, love!

i too have been lurking in this thread..but to be frank, on one front..i technically failed to lose as much weight as i wanted..but on another front, i did lose some and found two fabulous dresses that i feel amazing in...i hate bridal sizing because no matter how much weight i lose, i feel like my curves and ASSets will never fit into 'traditional' wedding dress sizes..so either way, i was going to have to buy a plus size dress or a dress larger than my normal 14/16 dress size..which was so NOT coolm, but i suppose that's what what alterations are for...

so, anyway, hatfiehm...good luck with your transformation..but remember this...IF YOU NEVER LOSE ANOTHER POUND..your love will still adore you!  happy planning, love!!!

I have my BD shoot next week and I am NERVOUS!!! Picking up some last minute items this week... sick.gif

Glad to hear you had a good experience, I hope I do too!!

I did have a much better time dress shopping than I expected a few weeks ago, especially at Curvaceous Couture, a plus-size bridal shop in Columbia, MD. They were awesome, and they only carry plus sizes! Even the skinny little consultants were the sweetest girls, they never made me feel anything less than gorgeous!

Thanks, Mich! I really like the photog, she's very sweet, so I think it will be all good. Finished up the shopping last night - navy undies to go with the Bears jersey! :-)

The shop was awesome. It felt like the most glamorous boutique every, very chilly in the store (good for trying on dresses!), huge dressing rooms, it was awesome. Any plus size girls out there in MD, go here!! http://www.curvaceouscoutureonline.com/

I tried on about 6 dresses I think. A lot of their dresses were outside my price range because they carry the fancy designer names, but I did find an Enzoani dress in my price range that I loved. Success!

Hey Mich! I just had the shoot yesterday! I went with Serenity Boudoir Photography: http://serenitygallery.net  It's a husband-and-wife-owned company in the north burbs of Chicago. They have a great little studio in Greyslake, IL.

I was so nervous before the shoot, but the photog (Harper) was the sweetest person ever. She immediately made me comfortable, and the girl who did my hair and make-up was also very sweet, and she did a great job. Harper put out strawberries, chocolate and mimosas for me while I was getting my hair and make-up done. There was even a little sign in the studio window that said "Welcome Erica" when I walked up :-)

She started out with very close-up shots and eventually went to more full-length shots. She was very encouraging the whole time, and gave a lot of good direction. I was supposed to only do three clothes changes, but she used all the clothes I brought (about five changes since I couldn't decide beforehand). She also was very aware and respectful of the areas I didn't want to show (my belly), so I'm sure the pics will be very flattering. She never once made me feel curvy or tubby. She made me feel great about myself!

At the very end, she had me do a couple pin-up type shots (jeans, white tank, heels, polka-dot purse). I'm interested to see how everything turns out! Two weeks is going to take forever!! LOL

Curvy girls in Chicago - go see Harper! She's awesome and she will make you feel even more gorgeous than you already are!

Wow, just went to take a peak at the photographer's website... she does AMAZING Work ... your pictures should turn out really classy and inspiring!!! Glad that she was encouraging and gave your some good tips on to how to make your body  be at it's best!

I wish I had thought of bring some jeans and heels with a tank top .. SEXY!!!! Wish I lived in Chicago and go visit her and do another BD shoot.. that's how much I loved the one I went to! haha I got my pictures right away on a USB key because I didn't take the package that retouches the pictures... but they still came out not so bad .. of course we are our worse critics but i'm pretty sure when fiancé opens up that book the day of the wedding.. his expression will be PRICELESS! ( Hope someone is there to capture that lol )

I didn't get the package that had the disc because I figured I wouldn't ever use the pics again and I don't have any photo retouching software. If only I had skills! I thought her best pics i saw in her studio weren't even on her site. I'm not sure if I'll be able to get someone to capture his expression. Were doing a cruise wedding and we won't meet the photog until were off the ship. Maybe I can gr his brother or my friend to snap a pic for me. I hope so!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
