This is a great thread! I am 5'1 and around 235 pounds. In the process of loosing the weight for my wedding. I tend to find clothes at Old Navy, Kohl's, and Marshall's. I LOVE Old Navy though. I think 90% of my wardrobe came from there.

Gotta love this thread! I've been looking at wedding pictures for decor ideas and all I see are skinny brides. I'm a pretty self-confident size 20 but I was starting to think I wasn't allowed to get photographed on the wedding day! LOL

I'm short waisted so I have to wear Low Rise jeans (so glad they invented them... I used to have to wear mens). I'm big on Old Navy for the tops and cute dresses, but I LOVE, LOVE Alloy.com for jeans (they also sell the jeans by INSEAM for everyone) and some shirts! They are younger styles and the sizes range from a 0 to a 25.

I like the Newport News bathing suits!

As for wedding dresses, I think most designers are adding plus sized gowns (I don't like the adding extra money for fabric though... how come the smaller sized dresses don't to get to negate the amount of fabric NOT used??). For evening gowns, I'm for Nordstroms all the way... great customer service everytime.

I got two La Blanca bathing suits last year, and they were extremely flattering. They were over $100, but they were the only suits I found that had the same strap style as my wedding dress (It was a lower cut v-neck in the front and back and a normal style bathing suit top would have shown lines.) I ordered one through Victoria's Secret, and found the other at Macy's. They were part of the Miracle Suit line and had ruching around the middle so they hid my unfortunate tummy rolls!

AHHHHHH!!! I'm so frustrated! I just came back from out of town shopping with my mom and my aunt for dresses and I was so sadded by the fact that they only had 2 stores with plus sized clothing. One was sooooooo expensive and the other was "supposed" to be plus size. Well geez, if you call a 14 plus size (which I know they do), but hell, I'm the REAL THING wearing a 22/24. DAMN that frustrates me!! Anyway, I found some great make-up to make up for it I guess! lol

Oh one more thing....anyone else hate these feelings? Shopping with other "skinner" people and they try on all the clothes and you just stand there, trying to be happy? Or when you're walking in the mall and your like...well, I can't shop there, or there, or there....HUMPH! Ok, I'm done my rant! lol

lisaloo,

Hi, I so want to embrass my plus size but I just saw pics of me the day I bought my wedding dress. While the dress looks great my arms are horrid! I am a size 22 in pants and 18 top , Yes baby got back!

Anyway, reading your thread makes me wish I had your up beat attitude but just thinking of having to wear a bathing suit in front of friends and family in 6 months scares the hell out of me. Got any positive words of wisdom??

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
