I know but sometimes being in Canada makes it difficult. Besides it's hard to know what size will be the right fit because God forbid they make a size 22 the same in all stores - sheesh!!!!!!!!!!!! lol

I'm not short waisted like some of you were talking about being. I think that I'm actually normal, whatever that may be! lol What my problem is, is that I had what a call my "spare tire" for a stomach. I usually can't wear dresses (unless they are the right cut and I get them taken in on top) because I am a completely different size on top then the bottom. For this reason, I asked my aunt to make my dress, it's easier this way.

Speaking about wedding dresses...did you ladies have a hard time finding one? I know here in my town, there's only a few wedding dress shops, one of them didn't even have a dress big enough for me to try on (I wear a 22-24). The other shop did have some, but they still didn't fit. How discouraging!

Usually all companies create their own "industry standard" which is based off of what they choose to be their size 20, 22, etc. I know that all stores differ in size, but if you look on the customer service section of any of their sites, you can find measurements for what each of the sizes are. They strictly adhere to those standards (depending on the company.) Like Lane Bryant for example. Because they design their own label, all garments are designed in house to adhere to that pre-determined sizing standard. Stores that buy other brands do not do this. Hope that helps.

i got a really cute suit at costco actually! its a 16, but i wear 14 street size clothes. its speedo, and was only like $25. it fit REALLY well, and the pattern was really helpful at disguising my lumps and bumps. click on the honeymoon link in my siggy and you can see it in a few pics. i brought a couple suits with me to mexico, but i only ended up wearing this one because it was so comfortable and it made me feel good.

Hey Lisa, thanks for starting this thread. I too love Love LOVE! old navy. I am somewhat of a plus size fashionista (at least thats what FI and co-workers say). Just because I am thick doesn't mean I have to dress drabby. I am shaped somewhat porportional (coke bottle). So when its time for me to shop, I mainly do damange at Torrid (not cheap, but hey i guess fabric cost), target (plus or maternity), Chadwichs, Lane bryant, NY& Co., Newport News. But lately, I find target is over priced considering the material and quality.. but thats another rant.

As for swimsuits. For me its torrid, hands down. I did see some nice ones at Lane Bryant, so will have to check them out next weekend. I need another suite for JA in Aug. But, Torrid just fits me better in the boobs and butt.

Yeah, I am having a bit of time to finding "decent" dresses to try on. The only ones I foudn at DB are the ones that look like drapes on me, or have tons of ruffle. I have been looking on line at dresses (houseofbrides.com) and am also considering a bridesmaids dress as some are just as beautiful and have more of "beachy" look since I plan on TTD.

Oh, I forgot, I can wear anything from a 20-24 depnding on the cut.

Here is a question for you ladies.. Bras.. what are doing about it for the wedding day, and what kind. Also have any of you ladies tried the butterfly bra by Jill Scott?

I'm a women's 12/14. My main problem is finding pants that fit right since I'm "hippy". My thighs....oooh, my thighs. lol My mom has always said I was born with hips, and I don't think she's joking.

I have a decent waistline, but I have the opposite problem as you, Kathy. Long body, short stubby ass legs. Bah!

Bras! OH I how love these - NOT!!! lol Actually, I'm picking up a strapless bra for the wedding which my aunt is sewing into the dress for support. I guess it's a little different for me because I'm having my dress made. But anyway, I HATE shopping for regular bras. They just never seem to fit properly. I wish I could pay someone to custom make me some. Oh well, maybe if I win the lottery someday!

anyone else have stumpy legs and a short middle? im barely 5'3", and i ALWAYS have to hem pants, jeans, etc. even if they are short length to start with! i guess a big problem is because i have to get them big enough to fit around my middle, so the legs end up being long enough for a glamazon wink.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
