Well, I decided to go ahead and start looking at dresses.  I found one that I love and bought it.  It fit perfectly, as is.  I do still plan to keep trying to lose weight, but I actually didn't feel fat in this dress, which was my biggest fear with the dresses.

MichCraw, 45 pounds is great!  I am still around 35 pounds down.  My losses have really slowed down, but so has my working out.  It just seems that the summer time is sooooo busy.  I never have much time, which is a sorry excuse, but you know how it goes...

Where are you getting married at?  Ours will be on a cruise that is leaving from Tampa Florida.

Hi lovepea! 35 pounds is a lot of weight as well ... Congrats! What type of dress  did you buy? I unfortunately bought my dress in December of last year before I had started losing weight ... and I had the choice of like ... 3 dresses in my size.... so I settled and of course now I regret it ... but can't afford to have 2 dresses at that price!!! Which is why i'm looking around for the used ones to see if I can get one at a reasonable price!

I had looked into the cruise idea leaving out of florida... ( since my dad doesn't fly ... so he would have driven down to florida for the cruise) ... however I wasn't certain to bring 2 kids ( one is 2 ) on a cruise.. I imagined him running around a lot ... and then me running after him a lot ... and then not enjoying the cruise at all ... maybe as a honeymoon for me and the hubby next year! We are getting married in the Dominican, Punta Cana ... Majestic Colonial ... looks like a magnificent resort.. and can't wait!

Oh ya, I can definitely see how a 2 year old on a cruise would not let you totally enjoy the experience the same way!  We had actually had the cruise paid for before we even thought about getting engaged.  It was one of those things that just sort of makes life convenient for us.  We live in California near his family and my family lives in Florida, so this was a great way to get the most out of our travel dollars, since his family was already flying there for the cruise.  We just added our wedding as an extra to their vacation.  Kind of unromantic, but it works for us!

If I can figure out how to get this picture on my post, I will show you the dress I got.  It's an a-line dress with a lot of "ruching" (think that's how it's spelled).  It's a sweetheart neckline, but has a lace halter on top of that.  It is completely not what I expected to like, I thought something much simpler would be better, but simpler was not flattering.

that is beautiful, lovepea, and SO flattering (though i don't know what you looked like in any others)! i think you look fantastic. and it's a good idea to buy it in a size that fits you now. you can always take a dress IN, but can't always let them out. congrats on finding THE dress!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
