i am definitely a curvacious girl, but am hoping to be a little less so for my wedding. you would think that an imminent wedding would keep me from eating all of the wrong things and sitting on the couch too much - but it hasn't!

i haven't tried on dresses yet. i am scared. i am worried i will be totally disgusted with how i look. i lost a lot of weight a few years ago (went from 218 to 175), but then i moved in with my FI, and gained 90lbs. NINETY POUNDS! i went all the way up to 265 and i am working my way back down (currently 245).

anyhow, when i look in the mirror, the person looking back at me is not the person i know, and not the person i feel like. so, i am wanting to get down to about 180 for my wedding. i have lots of work to do.

thanks for listening, and i am looking forward to chit chatting with you guys!

I understand gaining 90 lbs, I gained 50 since I met FI. But, thankfully our FI's still love us, otherwise they wouldn't be FI's, they'd be EX's lol And congrats on the loss so far! Every 5 pounds is a sack of sugar that you're not dragging around anymore ^_^ And 10 pounds is a sack of potatoes cheesy.gif

So welcome to the club, we're always here for motivation and support ^_^

Don't wait too long to try on dresses. I did because I kept saying I wanted to loose weight first. I was miserable trying on dresses and was very limited in what dresses I could try because most wouldn't come in on time. Trying on dresses will put your diet in high gear. I was so unhappy with the pictures of me in dresses, I went onto the HCG diet and lost 25 lbs in a month. I never stick to diets especially radical ones but looking terrible in a wedding dress was just the motivation I needed. My dress finally came in (2 weeks before I leave) and has to be taken down over 2 sizes! Moral of the story: Go try, then diet, then order but make sure you give it 6 months to come in.

very good points, amanda - thank you. i am possibly ordering my dress from china which only takes a couple of months, but you are right about trying on dresses adding fuel to the weight loss fire.

Hi ladies!!!

Welcome new girls to our little club! lol Totally MIA lately, but I'm still ticking. How is everyone else doing?

So, been thinking about children lately and was wondering if anyone had any ideas/worries/thoughts about being pregnant and overweight? It sorta scares me. I know that I should lose weight, but I just can't seem to.

i am definitely worried about getting pregnant while i am still so overweight. i already have high blood pressure, and i worry about gestational diabetes and all of that.

that is part of my motivation to lose weight before the wedding, as we wnat to start trying for babies right away (we are not getting any younger!)..

i am realistic about it and don't expect to be 125lbs before conceiving, but i need to be in a much healthier weight category than i am now.

i have always had a nagging feeling in the back of my mind that i am going to have fertility problems which scares me too...but that is totally unfounded..hehe.

maybe that will be the motivating factor to lose weight?

weight loss is so tough, and sometimes it takes a big slap in the face for us to actually do something about it. the health risks of being obese and pregnant are what scare me the most i think.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
