Too many options...

Okay ladies, my motivation has finally returned! I was ready to get up and go about two months ago, and then I sprained my knee. So needless to say, my "get up and go" got up and left... But now, it's back! I'm sick of feeling like crap every day, so I'm doing something about it! But there are so many choices! What should I do?

My mom and sister have joined Weight Watchers, which is $15/week ($60/month) and have had some success, but I still have to exercise on my own.

Curves is just down the street, and it's $30/month to start. FMIL did it and found it was great, but you have to do the circuit and do EVERY exercise. I'm not sure if my knees can take some of those machines... She had to stop going because of her knees too.

There's also a gym just down the street, and it's $20-$25/month. But am I really going to want to sweat my ass off with a bunch of strangers?

And then there are home videos and equipment and such, which can cost anywhere from $10 to $1000, but it's a one-time cost. I can do it at home, but am I really going to be motivated going it alone? I don't have a lot of room in my apartment as it is, and it's just too tempting to walk over to the fridge and grab something while I'm working out.

So what do you guys think? I've got a substantial amount of weight to lose (130 lbs or so) and I'm not sure I'm even able to do it (I don't mean willpower wise, I mean physically). I'm getting a bunch of bloodwork done on Monday because I haven't lost or gained a pound in about 8 years, even after being a vegetarian for two years. I've been this size forever, and clothes that fit me in High School still fit, but in my case that's not a good thing.

Help? smile124.gif lol

I would suggest joining SparkPeople.com. It's like WW except without the points system and it's free.

Also, for exercise, you can join a gym that has classes you like if you're worried about motivation. I like yoga, kickboxing, and Cardio Dance, so going to class is kinda fun for me. If you want something to do from home, I like Turbo Jam, but with your knee, I would suggest you do the "low-impact" options that she provides instead of the jumping around ones. Turbo Jam is good at melting the pounds quicker, and she offers a 10 day jump start menu with it.

Biggest suggestion: start with something you can keep doing. Don't try to go crazy to begin with. Just start making a few healthy changes (ie cutting out processed foods or soda) and start exercising a little to begin with. Take a short jog or run up and down the stairs once or twice a day. Then if you can keep that up, start investing in other things such as weights or gym memberships. If you spend thousand of dollars doing something drastic, you'll likely just waste a lot of money and gain weight back when you stop doing it.

if you want to play along with this season of the BDW Biggest Loser I can track your weight and all that and post % loss w/everyone else. You couldn't win, but maybe it would help with the motivation? that's what I am doing - just kind of playing along.

I've tried sparkpeople, but I didn't find that it helped any. Maybe I just didn't use it enough. And I'm slowly cutting out soda. I still drink 7-up about 2 or 3 times a week because I drink it with cranberry juice (I can't drink that stuff by itself, I'm a wuss! lol) and I've been eating REALLY healthy lately, and haven't lost a damn pound lol And for the past 7 weeks I've been taking the stairs at school (and there are a LOT of them, trust me lol), but I have asthma and get winded really easy, so I have to take my puffer when I get to the top. But I'm still doing it dammit, I don't care! lol It's just really frustrating to make these "smaller" changes and not see the scale move at all, and my sister has been just following the WW diet, no exercise at all, and she's on her way to losing 50 lbs (But she was around 400lbs in the beginning, so maybe it would affect her more because she's bigger?) I just think I need to build to something hardcore, and do it one step at a time.

The gym I'm thinking about going to is Nubody's, and they have a bunch of different classes I can take, plus I can get a personal trainer to help for the first couple of months. I just really don't understand why the damn scale won't budge, it's kind of depressing.

I may keep up with BDW Biggest Loser when actually start LOSING weight lol And I'll likely be in for Season 7 when/if it starts :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
