We canceled our wedding...

Recommended Posts

I am devastated. I can't begin to tell you how horrible all of this is. We began the process yesterday of canceling everything. I feel like I am in some sort of nightmare or something. With the amount of guests that were canceling, it didnâ€t make sense to have it anymore. My mother is recovering from breast cancer and canâ€t afford to get sick, so she wouldnâ€t have been there. My FIâ€s parents canceled, my sister canceled. Ugh. We had 41 people planning on attending our wedding that is less than two weeks away. I know we could have just gone and had it been who ever showed up, but we couldnâ€t. FI also didnâ€t want to risk anything. I know all is fine in Cabo, but we were worried about the travel there and back. I am sure we all would have been fine, but why take any chances? It would have been a constant worry the entire time we were there and then when we got home. I was told by my bosses not to come back to work for awhile to make sure all was ok if I did end up going. To me, that isnâ€t what all this is about. I stopped crying about it now and am just numb now. I feel like crawling under a rock and staying there. Thanks for letting me vent ladies. I need some pick me ups right now. I canâ€t stop thinking about the amount of time, money, tears and sweat that I put into this wedding and fear all would have been just fine had we gone. I hate the swine flu. shots.gif

I'm so sorry to hear that you had to cancel - I feel so bad for you. My wedding is May 30th, so I have the luxury of waiting a couple more weeks and hoping things shake out. I hope you can come up with an alternative plan quickly or reschedule for a time when you still feel you can get your dream wedding. Again, I'm so sorry.

Words can't describe how saddened I am for you and everyone experiencing this mess! I am truly sorry that you are going through this and know that you and your FI will find a way to make sense out of all this crap. It suck that it's fear that is perpetuating the hype and paralyzing people. You have a supportive community here at BDW to listen and help problem solve. But for now, tears and disappointment are understandable.

Thank you ladies. Just after I wrote this I got an email from my wedding coordinator confirming that she has canceled everything. I am at work and had a melt down. I can't stop crying and shaking. Thank you so much for your support ladies, I can't tell you how much it means to me right now. I think we are going to plan something for Vegas (something I was so against before) and then jump on a two week mediterranean cruise. Not sure yet though. I don't want to plan another wedding, that's for dang sure. frown.gif

There are some beautiful resorts in vegas that aren't on the strip - you could plan something wonderful there, though I know it won't be the same. But you'll have beautiful weather and everyone you love there and maybe you'll hit a jackpot on your way back to your room! Just trying to make you smile - vegas is my back-up plan too. Hang in there.

I'm so sorry to hear about that. Every day when they talk about the swine flu on the news it drives me crazy b/c it's putting people in a panic. I just can't believe how out of hand this seems to be getting. Ironically, there are probably more cases in Texas now than there is in Cabo.

I hope that you are able to come up with a plan b that will be fantastic. I know it's hard but stay positive. There has to be some sort of silver lining.

Good luck!

OMG! I am getting married May 24th at the Sheraton and I am going through the SAME thing! All of my guest are freaked out! My fiance and I are waiting until next week to may the decision on cancellation or not.....this is the absolute worst thing EVER! I am so sorry!! I totally understand your pain, I am just praying to GOD that this swine flu thing calms down in enough time for me to still get married. We think we will be fine, but like you our main concern is the travel in and out of Mexico. We do not want to deal with any drama. This is horrible. Keep your head up! You are blessed to have found a life partner, the wedding is just a small part of the big picture. That is what I keep telling myself :-)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
