I need your help w/ a Plan B

Recommended Posts

Do you have any pictures from Dreams? I am in the same situation but my wedding is 5/30 so I really have to work on Plan B now. This is just so stressful I don't know what to do with myself.

I think one of the biggest concerns is going to an AI that is going to charge you per guest while you're there, because that can add up. I think Dreams allows 20 guests and it's like $60 pp extra over that. Gran Bahia Principe in Akumal allowed you to book all of your guests at an a la carte for no additional cost, so I'm thinking that the GBP in Dominican Republic might be the same. If the La Romana airport is too small for you and your guests, you can always go to Punta Cana instead.

Thanks girls for all of the suggestions. I of course have to cover everything with Joe which is harder than it should be! I am completely ok w/ the idea DR. It really would come down to hotel pricing. The only thing even in comparison to the same price of our flights is Hawaii. So we would have to find a hotel w/ a good price and be able to only come out spending a little bit more, or I'm afraid we would just lose more guests and then it would be pointless for plan b.

We aren't staying at GBP Akumal so I wouldn't be able to compare them w/ someone else. We are really staying at a small local hotel (Joe and I have a Villa) their restaurant is catering, we're using their palapa for the reception. Our WC is from the Turtle Bay Cafe. Our wedding is on the beach. We have a menu that everyone has chosen what they want so it will be a sit down dinner and everyone will be served what they ordered in advance. Finding a plan b is going to be hard for us. i'm really getting ideas and hoping I never have to act on them. Our guests have really relaxed w/ the idea of just having a plan b. Like MarieSam (my Akumal-sis) said the Akumal wedding is my reality. I KNOW we won't find anything like it, and it most certainly won't cost the same!!!!!! This wedding (including photography, clothes, everything other than hotel and flights cause they were gifts) only cost us $4700

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
