A wedding game- Add one thing & take one away

I was talking to a wedding guest at our site visit last week, because I noticed his personalized wedding mug. He said that they filled it with candy and a hangover kit. That might be a nice alternative to OOTs.

I just got married about two weeks ago and already I'm talking about that I wish we could have a "do over" so that I could plan things differently. lol!

If I could have added something I would have spent more money on my dress and found the "perfect" one. This is weird but I probably would have paid to have a "security" person to keep the nasties out of our video and pictures. Our WC had to shoo a lady away that was taking pictures of our ceremony from all sides as well as a lady that kept walking her dogs near us. Watching our video and seeing our pictures I realize there are too many nasties in the background!

I would have cut the lounge furniture for the cocktail hour probably. We paid about $560 to use it for the entire night. Our reception ended up being inside because of the wind and all of our guests were exhausted by 9:30-10:00 pm so no one used it for the rest of the night. I would have also cut the OOT coolers and items because we had guests that stayed only two nights and most stayed only four nights. No one used theirs except for my family even though other guests say they liked them.

we had this issue too. right after our ceremony a woman came running up & kept clicking pictures of us. we asked her what she was doing and she said, "it's just so beautiful I want pictures." Then we asked her to leave & she started taking pictures from farther away.

I saw her at breakfast one morning & I had my camera with me. I was tempted to get up in her face & take pictures while she ate.

One reason why people do this, is to build up a wedding portfolio. It's so unethical though. They did not pose that photograph or book that wedding. So it's missleading to people looking at their site.

If I were going to add one thing it would be fire dancers. We saw them at one of the other weddings during our stay and I was a little jealous.

To save money I would not have upgraded our cake. We left a majority untouched. It looked good, but in the end most of it ended up in the trash.

I would have definitely added a videographer and extra photography. I got a lot of great pictures and my sister-in-law got some footage on her personal camcorder, but I love seeing all the videos you girls got

There's not really much I could cut out, we had a very simple set up to the wedding. Not using NCL's wedding company is the only thing I would really want to cut, but that might have ended up costing more (if our original calculations were right).

Oh man! Luckily we didn't have anyone that zealous trying to get so many pictures of us but I was a tiny bit put off by it. That would have been SO hilarious if you had gone up to her and started taking pictures of her eating! lol

I also feel really weird knowing that these people will probably show friends and family pictures of us...not to mention if they post them online and what not. I try to keep myself and DH off the internet as much possible so I don't even have a Facebook or MySpace account. I really don't want randoms posting pictures of us anywhere.

My photog said he shot a few far away pictures of a beach reception one night but he asked the couple if it was OK and they said yes. I hope he doesn't plan on posting them to his website because our reception was inside and not on the beach. I really don't him to do any false advertising but now that he's had a taste of a destination wedding he wants to do a lot more!

This is great - I think if I could have added something I would've had sparklers. And a videographer. And a girls day at the spa.

I seriously don't know what I would "cut out" We had the free package, and I DIY'd our flowers and used our ipod for the reception - all of which worked out perfect. Our guests loved the OOT bags and used them at the pool. So I guess it was okay that I didn't have any extra money to spend on things cuz i wouldn't really cut out anything. Except personally I probably wouldn't have had those 2 tequila shots at our reception LOL!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
