Swine Brides **Support Thread**

Maybride2009

Recommended Posts

Hey Ladies,

As the number of us who are being forced to cancel our dream weddings rises, I thought I would start a thread where we can come and support each other as we try to sort through this mess and come out on top.

Tears, support, complaints, anything you need to get out is welcome and hopefully we can help each other get back on the track to having a wedding of some sort.

Hugs to all the swine brides out there...we are up to our ears in shitfan.gif

ETA: As of this afternoon...everything in my signature is B.S :)

well my wedding is in 3 weeks and well I am going!! both of our familys said were just going to do it. My TA just got back 3 days ago from the resort I am getting married at and she said the media is blowing this all up!! I could get the swine flu here. I am a nurse in the ICU we have several cases that they think might be swine flu. So I could catch it here or there.

Add us to the list of people cancelled!

We found out today that we will not be getting married in Mexico on May 20th, as we originally planned. It took a while to set in but we are both fairly upset. We are just finishing school and have our last 2 final exams Tuesday and Thursday and had planned everything for the wedding. Now, we are stuck trying to write exams and finish school while we try to figure out what we are supposed to do about the wedding.

Our travel agent is looking to find alternative plans. However, some of our guests do not have travel insurance so they might be left out. We also planned our wedding with a company outside of our resort so we are afraid we might lose our money because as far as they are concerned there is nothing wrong in Mexico (they literally thought we were joking when we told them we had to cancel!).

I really hope this doesn't affect many more couples and that everything settles down so the planned weddings can go on.

Good luck everyone!!

We were booked with sunwing and they cancelled all their flight portions of their vacation packages. We're now trying to figure out if we should book another flight and just go or forget about it all together? It's so frustratingly hard to think straight right now and the thought of how much $$$ will be lost due to all of this if we don't go....I'm lost. sad.gif My fiance has really stepped up to take care of things as I've kinda crumbled under this last bit of stress...reminds me why I'm marrying him! I hope that everyone who's wedding is being affected by this turn of events remembers the bottom line...we will be marrying that special person at some point, and this will just make the bond that much stronger!

Thanks for listening and good luck to everyone!! My thoughts are with you all!

I have had a few of our guests call and ask if we are canceling, which as of now, we are not. Hopefully by July all of this will have blown over...

I have also had a few people who were just about to book hold off now, which makes me more and more upset. One of my bridesmaids says she's not going now, but I'm hoping it all works out.

I can't even imagine what it must be like for those of you getting married in the next few weeks. I'm so glad that this forum is here so we all have some support.

My heart goes out to all of you! I hope everyone can still have their dream wedding somehow...

All of us feel for you and can't imagine how you must be feeling! I hope each of your weddings will somehow end up being even better!!

We have had some comments about this but most people think this is just a few week thing. Flu season usually ends by summer. Let's all hope so!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
