How much should people pay?

    Thanks for reposting this. I hadn't come across it and the info is really great...55% of people go is a good number. As to cost, the average I got for Dreams Tulam was roughly $1500/per person and that's if you book early.

      I was a little sticker shocked when I first started looking but ended up at the Moon Palace in Cancun. Our TA got us in for $380/night (this is a two person price) with every guest receiving a Palace Passport with three night stay (the passport gives unlimited tours to Mayan Ruins and $100 spa and golf certicate to use at the resort). My final decision to go with Moon Palace was they provide the most amazing weddings.

      It sounds high until you start factoring in that is is an all-inclusive with more than 13 restaurants and if you want to do the tours while there, they would run you a pretty penny for each one you do. We were also able to work out a deal with our TA to allow a deposit down back in November with the balance due in April. Most people paid monthly to pay their costs.

      Unfortunately, due to the economy and Mexico violance, we lost quite a few. Up until February, we had over 60 people booked with about 30 rooms. We have taken a little hit with everything but I still think we have a good number going.... and the best part, we all know everything is all paid for now and we just have to save up spending money for us while there.

        Hey,

         

        We're staying at the Grand Sunset Princess.  Current prices have gone up by about 900$ per guests.  When we originally booked, the prices were at about 1300$ including non-stop flight from Vancouver, and a 7day all inclusive trip.

         

        Booking early was the best decision we made.  We booked about 11 months ahead of time.  This meant we could get our invites out and allow our guests time to save up and take vacation time off from work.  It also helped keep our costs down, and gave our guests incentives for booking before a certain date.  We originally gave our guests 2 months to put a 300$ down payment on their trip with our travel agent.  This deposit 'locks' in the price they agreed upon.  We guarenteed that price for the 2 months.  For guests who couldn't commit within that 2 months, we gave another deadline, with another set price.  We only actually had about 2 people book after the initial early bird booking price.

         

        This was great for me because we were able to finalize our guest list months in advance.  Also, and we were able to keep the costs for our guests signifiantly lower.

        I couldn't agree more about booking early.  We booked about 10 months in advance and it was the best thing we did.  We were able to save ourselves about $500 per person by booking early, just because prices have gone up and we qualified for an early booking bonus by booking so many seats early enough.

          I too wanted to keep it under $1000.  My guests are paying $350 for the room and approx $500 for their flights.  This is for 4 days/3 nights.

             I was told that I was going to have a hard time to find anything under a $1000.  Its different if your not flying from a major city, or the US.  I tried to make it has afforable as possible, but I cant get a solid quote until its about 10months before, so its kind of a stressor, pick the hotel and hope to god its not a crazy price?
