Pool Side Weddings?

Definitely find out if they allow outside coordinators. Get a really good grasp on whether the RIU responds to you. I didn't even go to see them because I spent two weeks trying to get them to respond to my request for an appointment.

Trust me - the MOST frustrating thing that you will experience is when a vendor goes non-responsive. You really don't want it to be your hotel wedding coordinator. I have been really lucky in this area.

FYI - Dreams was very responsive to me. I didn't select them, but I can say that I appreciated their communication.

natasha is right...riu is known for being flaky and have caused many brides to get frustrated with their lack of communication...planning a wedding is tough...planning a wedding in another country where they speak a different language is alot tougher...remember that.

also there is a recent riu review where the bride was really unhappy with her wedding...it was posted on tripadvisors. one other thing...one of the main complaints of riu is that it is very crowded...a photographer has told us that and many WC's...i can imagine a poolside wedding probably has more people than their wedding spots...the last thing i would want is a bunch of people in bathing suits wacthing my wedding and in my wedding pictures.

not trying to poo poo riu but you just need to be aware of these things.

I thought something might have been fishy with destinationweddings.com when I came to this site and hadn't seen one person mention them. Thanks.

Um... No way in HE#* do I want a bunch of people in bathing suits splashing around while my wedding is taking place. I guess I have some research to do.

I cant wait to hear back from the newest Riu bride. I think that will tell me a lot.

Thanks everyone - Jackie

PS. I'm thinking the gazebo might just be a safer bet either at RIU or Dreams. They are still absolutely gorgeous and there has to be a reason why more people aren't doing poolside ceremony's.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
