RIU Montego Bay review April 15th 2009 **with pics**

Congratulation...it sounds like you had a wonderfult time. And, thank you for sharing the review!!!

One quick question/confirmation...were the sashes rented or did Marshall1980 bring them with her? Also, if we want to do a first dance, father/daughter and mother/son dance, what would you recommend. I agree with your assessment of the disco, my FI and I went into it for a short time when we went down in January.

Marshall1980 had brought the sashes with her. She bought them online and it was cheaper to buy them than rent them from the resort. That is why I got them for free cause she didn't want to have to bring them back with her.

We did our first dance shortly after the ceremony and right on the beach. It was definately one of the best decisions we made. It was absolutely breathtaking and many of our guests cried during our first dance! We chose not to do a parent/child dance in Jamaica and waited until our AHR to do that. I'm sure you could fit in a parent/child dance in there too though. I loved having our first dance right on the beach. It was unforgetable!

If you don't want to do it right after your ceremony you could always go back to the beach after the dinner. There are outlets right on the beach on the "east" end (it's opposite from the west end just down from the Steakhouse!) of the beach it is lit up with a very tall lamp post. That is where we had our "reception" gathering after our dinner. There was no one around and we just docked our ipod and chatted and listened to music with our guests. You could always do your dances there. Other than that I can't think of anywhere other than the disco for those dances.

Hope that helps!

Congrats to the new Mr. & Mrs.!!

Quick question...you said there was a problem with the hand ceremony. I wanted to do a hand ceremony and a sand ceremony and I wanted 2 family members to read them. Is the minister/wedding coordinator flexible with this?

Also you said jjurick had to insist on something importnat...you have me worried...can u tell what it is?

I so didn't mean to worry you!! jjurick had her heart set on a beach wedding and had chosen the west beach ahead of time. When her and her FI met with Chantelle she told them she couldn't offer them that location because there was a big wedding later that day in the same location that they needed more time to set up. jjurick was super disappointed and so was her FI. They kept talking with Chantelle and she asked them why they looked so glum. Her FI said that if she's not happy then he's not happy and he won't be until she gets what she wants. Chantelle finally agreed that they could use the west beach for their wedding ceremony. So like I said, sometimes you have to be persistant but if you really want something you will get it.

As for the hand ceremony, we gave Chantelle our ceremony script that we spent hours perfecting and she told us she would give it to the minister to read over. She asked if we wanted a sand ceremony or a unity candle ceremony after we signed the documents and we said no but that we wanted the hand ceremony that was in our script. She turned to the hand ceremony page and circled it. Just before the ceremony when DH was standing by the minister he asked him if Chantelle had given him anything to read over. The minister said no that he didn't get anything. We didn't say anything to Chantelle afterwards though cause there was really nothing we could do about it after it was all over. The ceremony was beautiful and the minister did an amazing job of making it feel personal and special. We got to do our hand ceremony before our AHR and really in the big picture it didn't matter. Our ceremony was very special and we will never forget it. It didn't really affect the outcome of the day at all.

I also forgot to add that they served us our sparkling wine right after the ceremony. There were two or our guests who do not drink alcohol so they were offered apple juice. I thought that was nice of them to have available. Apparently they always have it available in case there are kids.

Hope that helps! Keep the questions coming!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
