2009 Brides Can you help the 2010 Brides with Prices

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone. I just wanted to start a thread about 2009 pricing because there are a lot of us who are having very difficult times figuring out prices for our weddings in 2010. Most of the prices quoted by our travel agents are extremely high forcing us to reconsider where we are planning on going. So if the 2009 brides are willing to help us a bit by giving just a little info it would be of major help to all of us planning a 2010 wedding. We can use these prices as a rough guideline plus 10% to help us decide on our location.

2009 Brides can you give us the resort, time of year, city of departure, length of stay and price.

This would be of major help to everyone. Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately what I learned from my DW planning is that the better rates/prices came when we got closer to our wedding date. We were married April/09 in RM and the prices we were quoted back in April/May 2008 from various travel agents from different tour operators were a bit high. We waited a little longer and got our group rates around Sept/Oct 2008 and they came down and there were more incentives.

I think booking too far in advance you will pay more because the tour operators are assuming they will sell out and want to get top dollar. When the dates get closer and they still have a lot of vacancy, then they start to drop the prices.

The only risky thing with this is that we needed to secure our wedding date at the actual resort about a year out to make sure we had a spot. Catch 22sad.gif

If you want some quotes nad pricing, let me know. We were married at Iberostar Paraiso Beach and got quotes for Edmonton, CAlgary, Vancouver, and Toronto departures for April for Iberostar Beach and Maya.

With the economy the way it is now, hard to say what is to come for pricing. Especially given the current Conquest situation.

If you pick a location/resort you like, reserve the date with the WC at the resort and then wait a few months till Winter brochures/specials at least come out and then call a few TA's to see what pricing is like. Will probably make a difference.

Hope all goes well.

Gen

Happy planning.

Great thread idea!

I am not in such a rush to book like everyone else here seems to be. I thought DW were supposed to relieve the pressure of local weddings and having to book everything one year in advance! Anyway....... I am reluctant to book my wedding without travel pricing out because if the resort I want is too expensive I will go elsewhere. To secure a date with the WC at a resort, is there money involved? 2010 wedding packages aren't even out yet so I don't know how people can be booking dates.

Anyway.... I am planning a Feb 2010 wedding and the resort of choice does up to 6 weddings a day. I would like to think that that many weddings already occurring before I am willing to book the trip in August / September is highly unlikely. And if they are all booked, I am fairly flexible with my dates (week before or week after). It's all good. Got a West Coast attitude here. BC transplant living in Montreal.

Hi Ladies. I'd definitely love to help and provide our info on pricing! First some background info: We're getting married at the RIU Palace Riveria Maya on Nov 28, 2009. I'm in Chicago, IL but have guests traveling from Alaska, Pittsburgh, Kansas City, Texas, and Wisconsin. We hired a TA (I actually paid $30 dollars on the website Wedding Destinations and Planning | Destination Weddings .com - they assigned me a really helpful agent who helped me pick my resort and is in charge of all of our travel packages).

Here are the quotes she sent me:

For 5 days, 4 nights. These Estimates include:

- roundtrip airfare

- all taxes

- round-trip transportation to the airport

- room price

Please note, the prices listed below are AVERAGE, and it may be possible to get cheaper packages. Price, of course, will fluctuate depending on how long you'd like to stay.

Chicago Oâ€Hare $ 1053 per person

Houston Bush $ 994 per person

San Antonio $ 1098 per person

Pittsburgh $ 1174 per person

Anchorage $ 1582 per person

Kansas City $ 1149 oer person

In addition to this, we've had several guests book airfare on their own, and have had at least 4 people get direct flights to cancun on American Airlines for $250 round trip!!! These guests are staying 4 nights and their total cost is only $900 per person!

Last but not least, I decided on the RIU RM because their wedding package was amazing. Ceremony set up for 50 people, and dinner included (with cake) for 50 people, and the price was only $1,500!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any questions or need more info!

That was the original quote, and it actually went down recently! I'm going to be honest and say I have no idea what the actual tax breakdown is, beause she sends the quote as a package, and specifies that taxes are included, but it doesn't list out exactly what they come to.

Our TA works with a number of different "tour operators" (travel companies) to package and determine the cheapest rates. Essentially she "shops around" for the best price. Each guest fills out a request form with information specific to them, and she finds them the best deal. She also has been very helpful for matching rates they find online.

I know this isnt very specific, but I hope it helps!

That's silly! She doesnt seem very helpful at all! I've had awesome luck with our TA through destinationweddings.com if you want her information its smothered all over my website! you can even see what the "request a quote" page looks like, etc.

I don't know what your arrangement is with her, but maybe you have time to switch?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
